I used to do it on a PC I leave running 24/7 instead Just grab a copy of wget for your OS, set job to make wget hit the page in question, send output to a log (or null if you don't care about it), done. At one point I used one called ScriptTimer Web to do this...they also went paid-only...their domain's now for sale. I guess it's not profitable to sell cron jobs?

You put the % in the host field on this page right? https://tommy.heliohost.org:2083/frontend/paper_lantern/sql/managehost.html It's showing the % in the access hosts list below the box? If so, I'm out of ideas. Moved to customer service. Maybe Byron or Krydos would know why this doesn't work.

I don't know how long we plan to make these available for, but I can't imagine them going away for at least another few weeks. You don't need to set your new account up right away, but I'd say the sooner you download the archive, the better. That way you have it if/when backups are no longer available.
-
Is there a specific error you are getting? Also, make sure you're using the full username. It will be in the form cpUsername_dbUsername. Did you assign the user to the database?

https://tommy.heliohost.org:2083/ because 2082 in the link above is insecure and unencrypted. Doh! Yeah, https://tommy.heliohost.org:2083/ is a better choice. I'm just used to the insecure ones because I use it at work and I've been around here since before we really supported SSL for cPanel...

Johnny's hard disk failed. If you don't have a backup, you will need to start over. Old Johnny backups were offered for several months via FTP, then we removed all the data, rebuilt the server, and allowed new accounts, only for the hard disk to die 2 weeks later. Backups from the rebuilt "New Johnny" are not available at all (hard disk failure). When the server is fixed in a month or so, it will not contain any of the original accounts or data. You will need to sign up on Tommy if you wish to continue hosting with us in the meantime. Registration opens at midnight UTC and fills quickly. If you don't want to wait and hope you get an account, you can donate $1 or more and get an invite that works even when the server is full for the day.

That account is inactive. Try using http://heliohost.org/renew/ to renew it. In the future, be sure to use either http://heliohost.org/ or http://tommy.heliohost.org:2082/ to log into cPanel at least once every 30 days.

Yep. And I get the same log as everyone else. First part with the auth fail can be ignored because I typed my password wrong. Not by SFTP. Only plain FTP and FTPS work for me in Filezilla. Also tried WinSCP, same results.
-
Just tried WinSCP... SFTP sessions don't work.FTPS worked fine.Plain FTP worked fine.SFTP is broken for me as well. FTP and FTPS work fine for my account in both FZ and WinSCP though.
-
There's something wrong with the encryption for Tommy FTP. See here: http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/27433-filezilla-cant-connect/
-
Change the "Use Explicit FTP over TLS" shown in Byron's pictures on page 1 to "Only use Plain FTP (insecure)", specify port 21, and try it again (Byron's earlier port 21 post resulted in FZ autodetecting to FTPS, as evidenced by the line indicating Initializing TLS...). Does it work in that configuration? And here's another one also seeing this issue too: http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/27146-tommy-accounts/page-5?do=findComment&comment=125589

You won't have the permissions to use either of those. Only Krydos or Byron can restart Tomcat (it requires root access). If you're going to be doing lots of development in Java, I'd recommend setting up Tomcat on your PC and developing your program there before putting it up here. What sort of security issue is it? There aren't many reports we get that aren't safe for the forum. If it's a severe issue, we can always hide/delete the forum post. I accept PMs if you're concerned about whether it's appropriate to be posted on the boards (most things are fine though). We can't fix what we don't know about.
-
Can recommend. We use this at work for the pile of passwords we deal with managing our network. I also use it at home.
-
Any new stuff for this? What else do you want to know? You know the correct solution already...you should get a certificate with both domains listed and get rid of the redirect. Having a redirect first thing on a domain is almost as bad as just leaving the security warnings in terms of search indexing anyway. The alternative is to just turn off SSL on the subdomain and allow the insecure connections. As long as you don't post passwords (obvious reasons) or email addresses (spam), you're perfectly fine. Posting usernames and domains isn't going to hurt anything, and in fact will get the site seen by places like Google faster (they'll find it when they index our board). Thousands of others post this info. When people PM me usernames/domains, the first thing I do is post it in the topic for them anyway or ask them to start a topic if they don't have one...it's impossible for all of us to work on your issue if only one admin has the information.

It opens at midnight UTC every day and fills in seconds... You can either keep trying every day until you get one, or you can donate. If you donate, you'll get an invite sent by email within 24 hours that works even when it's full for the day.
-
Looks like you figured it out already. Your main domain is the host name for remote connections. You can also use tommy.heliohost.org if you want.
-
I can't answer the C# ADO.NET and JDBC questions (not familiar with either language, and honestly, there's not many people here who are), but I can answer this one. You can enable Remote MySQL in cPanel by adding your PC's public IP address, then use MySQL WorkBench or a similar program from your PC to manage your database content if you wish. Even the MySQL command line tools should work if you want.

All Johnny accounts have already been removed from our system since the server crashed and there are no plans for recovery of New Johnny data. You're good.
-
Stevie died of old age back in December (hard disk failed after 8 years of service...). See http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/26915-hard-drive-failed/ You need to sign up on Tommy. Registrations open at midnight UTC every day, and fill quickly. If you don't want to wait, you can donate and get an invite that's good even when the server is full for the day. Finally, your Stevie account was one of the many that did not back up successfully post-crash due to corruption, so there is no backup available for the account. After getting a Tommy account, you will need to use whatever backups you already have to set your site up again.

[Solved] Can't Signin To Heliohost And Helionet On Mobile
wolstech replied to giteshss2's topic in Customer Service
If the password is no longer working, it's the only thing there is to do. You should reset it yourself. If you have trouble resetting it, I can reset it and email the new password to the email on your account. At least 2 others have had issues with passwords that stopped working in the past few days as well... -
[Solved] Can't Signin To Heliohost And Helionet On Mobile

Please try resetting your password: https://tommy.heliohost.org:2083/resetpass?start=1 If it still doesn't work after that, let us know and we can manually reset it for you. -
We don't have an account with that domain. What was the username, and what server was it on?
-
At the registrar website. You need to own it and do it on the site of the registrar where you bought it. If you need a free domain, you can get one ending in .tk or a few others from www.freenom.com
-
Krydos will send the invite when he sees your donation. As for transferring accounts, we can't transfer them. You just need to set it up again. The contents of your old account can be recovered using http://www.heliohost.org/backup/ If you don't receive an email after using that form, let us know and we can send it manually
