Transfer Account From Stevie To Tommy Server
wolstech replied to K_Rivers's topic in Customer Service
The files can be downloaded from http://heliohost.org/backup/ (your account backed up successfully). The archive only contains public_html and your databases though. Settings, domains, and DNS you'll just need to set up again. Domains set up within seconds though, not 24 hours like Stevie. To actually get a Tommy account, you'll need to sign up again. You can do so at midnight UTC and hope you get one before it fills for the day (the signups have been filling in seconds lately), or donate $1 or more and get an invite that works anytime, even when the server is full for the day. -
So I assume the emails in that account count towards the overall server disk quota just like any other email account? The reason why I'm worried about spam is because I'm hoping to explode on social media eventually. They do. On cPanel systems, mail is just another file. Take a look in <homedir>/mail/cur/. You'll see a bunch of really strangely named files that each represent a single email. As long as you don't give out that email address, which is typically in the form cpanel_username@tommy.heliohost.org, you should be fine. Nobody uses the default account, and cP recommends you don't for exactly this reason. All the domains that regular people will actually visit/send mail to (such as your main domain) don't have any default accounts, and can be fully managed through cPanel. If you don't want any email to be accepted, just don't create an account or forwarder. The server will reject mail sent to non-existent recipients. If spam does become an issue down the road, we have SpamAssassin available too.

It's mostly there for logs and internal results reporting. Cron output (and IIRC metrics reports if you turn them on) are sent to it for instance, so if you wish to see these, this mailbox is where you look. Other than that, yeah, it mostly collects spam. I have 3 spam emails and 45 messages full of cron results in mine right now. If you're really worried about it, you can probably code a script that connects the mailbox and deletes all the mail. I never had to empty mine in the 5 years I had a Stevie account, so it's unlikely to ever hog a massive amount of space. My Tommy account has 48 emails in there currently.

It's a setting you need to change at your registrar. There will be a setting for nameservers on whatever service you bought hotclublinks.com through. You should be able to select "custom nameservers" or some such option, and enter ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org as the two nameservers. Remove any other servers that are already listed. After that, save, and let DNS update (can take a few hours).

I see your Tommy account was created successfully, so I've renamed you back.

Johnny's hardware failed. Your only choice is to sign up on tommy. Registration opens at midnight UTC every day and fills extremely quickly (in seconds). If you don't want to wait and hope you get an account at midnight, you can donate $1 or more and get an invite by email that works any time.

When did you donate and what is your transaction ID?

[Solved] Suspended/ Inaccessible Stevie Account : Petem
wolstech replied to pete_m's topic in Suspended and Queued Accounts
You're correct. Just sign up on tommy when you can manage (the signups are filling in seconds lately), then use the contents of your backup to rebuild the site. If you don't want to wait/hope you get an account at midnight UTC, you can also donate $1 or more and get an invite emailed to you that lets you make an account even when the server is full. The invite comes to your Paypal or skrill email, usually within 24 hours of donating. If you get an error about a DNS entry existing and needing to be removed, let us know and we can remove it for you. -
[Solved] Account Suspended On Tommy (Interimq)
wolstech replied to interimq's topic in Suspended and Queued Accounts
You have to log into cpanel. http://tommy.heliohost.org:2083/ FTP doesn't count. -
[Solved] Move From Stevie To Tommy Server Please
wolstech replied to mrobo's topic in Customer Service
I misread you earlier and didn't realize you'd said Johnny. That server has failed, so you can't register for it since it isn't even running... You have to go with Tommy (which is now free, and is the one registrations were hiked on). He current fills for the day in under 2 minutes though. -
[Solved] Account Suspended On Tommy (Interimq)
wolstech replied to interimq's topic in Suspended and Queued Accounts
It's suspended for inactivity. Unsuspended. -
I wonder the same thing. In fact, I prefer everything be in there. It means in the event we need to recover things, a script can grab the one folder and guarantee we didn't miss any domains...

Paypal works in Vietnam and does not need an international bank card. Paypal handles the transaction in your country and converts the currency to US dollars for you. As long as you have Paypal and either a bank account or any standard credit/debit card, it should work. Same goes for Skrill. You can also buy a Paypal gift card in some stores with cash that can be used to put money in a Paypal account without a card or bank account. Not sure if you're able to get those in your country though. If you don't wish to donate though, you can try to sign up for free at midnight UTC. The new signups fill quickly for the day though (usually in under 2 minutes).

There's nothing to send. Your account backup was one of the many that was unrecoverable due to disk damage. The file is a 45 byte empty archive.

It's worth noting however that IE8 on Windows XP is horribly outdated now. Firefox and Chrome on XP, and all current browsers on all newer desktop OSes support SNI, as do all recent iOS and Android devices. Unless you're building something that's expected to be used by lots of users with old PCs, or you have other reasons to want a dedicated IP (availability, etc.), you likely don't need it.

As it currently stands, there's no official way to automate it. Cpanel does have an API, but I don't believe we're able to use it because when I last looked into it, it required WHM access to get the required session tokens. Any documentation on that SSL folder would be on cpanel's site or a third party forum that researched it, if it exists.

Pretty much. I'd recommend submitting the email now and making sure you have the validation email ready to click at midnight. The signups are filling in a few minutes right now due to excessive demand (everybody else is doing the same thing you're trying to do). If you don't get one, try again tomorrow. We had 1 user who had to try 10 days in a row, and he was trying to get a Johnny account that he later lost in the second crash

[Solved] Imagick Installation In The Server
wolstech replied to codename25's topic in Escalated Requests
It will always show the primary version as 5.6. As long your domains are set to 5.4, the scripts on those domains should run under 5.4. It should take effect nearly instantly. -
server Johnny is down (off line) - see --> [ http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/ ] The server that holds Johnny (Charlie) has a failed hard disk...same issue as Stevie. We're looking at fixing these servers sometime in February, however as of now there are no plans to recover data from Johnny since there were so few users to begin with. Once we get someone to California we can re-disk the servers and get them running again, but they're going to be new/empty.
-
did you try at --> [ https://heliohost.org/backup/ ] ? His account was one of the failures with the empty 45 byte backup.

Moved to customer service.

That boat has sailed unfortunately Our first and only attempt was mostly unsuccessful, and because of the disappointing results, there are no planned future attempts to recover data from Stevie. The disk that failed is just too damaged to work with anymore...we can't even use the server ourselves. I doubt if there will be any attempts to recover more from the failed disk once we physically retrieve it in February (we're sending someone to California around then to re-disk Stevie and Charlie so we can get them online again).

Admins have said - 'there will be no further effort made to recover data from server Stevie' - see --> [ http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/27233-manual-backup-results/ ] If you create a new account, you can always add them again The exact MX settings you need should be available from Office 365/Outlook if you don't know what they're supposed to be.
