  1. I agree. Probably not a popular opinion for many, but I personally think K should never have gone down the path of trying to fix the scripts, and instead just thrown out the idea of a migration and re-invited everyone once we realized it wasn't as easy as claimed. Migrations/imports often come with tons of (sometimes hidden) issues that can manifest weeks, months, or even years later. Look at it like a PC operating system: Do you upgrade Win7 to Win10 and hope you don't find quirks in your files and software due to the running migration, or do you toss Win7 entirely and install fresh Win10? The latter tends to work better, but the former is more convenient.
  2. We aren't accepting new users for the shared hosting at this time because our licenses for cpanel got revoked. We're in the process of moving to a new platform (Plesk) but that isn't done yet. Django was supported on our free accounts when we had cpanel, and I imagine it will be supported once Plesk is working as well since it was a pretty common request.
  3. Security Vulnerability reports are welcome and should be sent via an email directed to either abuse@heliohost.org or admin@heliohost.org. Please keep in mind that we are unable to offer monetary rewards for this sort of issue due to the cost associated with such programs (we're a small nonprofit that is unable to afford them). Please do not submit details of such issues to the general support mailbox, doing so will result in the information being posted publicly.

  5. Forum spam bots. The support email works by posting on our forum, and anybody is able to reply to your support topic, whether that be other users, admins, or spambots. If a spambot signs up and posts its spam as a reply to your support case, the spam is emailed to you like any other reply would be. You can see your entire support case on our forums here: https://www.helionet.org/index/topic/51121-hh722767-simple-site/page/4/#comments
  6. I just looked and this is not frozen or down. I can see the console just fine, and it is responding enough that I can type in the password box (strange to see a GUI installed on a linux server, but still, it's not down on my end).
  7. As of now, you can't. Krydos or yash has to restart them for you. Odds are unless you shut it down, it's more likely to be frozen from broken software or perhaps misconfigured if you were changing something when it went down (I've seen users firewall themselves out of their VPS for example...).
  8. HTTPS is working fine for me on your site. For malwarebytes, I don't blame them for flagging it malicious. Your website freezes my browser shortly after it's opened due to the size of that table, followed by the tab crashing with a memory error. As for FTP, you're supposed to be using tommy.heliohost.org as the host name for FTP, not your domain. We do not support custom domains nor custom certificates on FTP.
  9. The servers still aren't ready. We don't have any idea when anything will happen for free users because the plesk migration simply has not gone to plan. None of us really know about Plesk (been in the cP camp forever), so we're learning as we go, and the migration scripts they gave us were unfit for purpose so a solution for that had to be custom developed. It also doesn't help that Krydos is doing most everything himself, including VPS support. Like us he's a volunteer, so there's a real life he has to tend to and only so much time in his life to do this. Since none of us really know much about Linux (I'm a Windows guy, so I'm not much help...), there isn't much for me or the other admins to do except tend to the forums and Discord. We do plan to continue offering the free/donation plans you know from the cP days with the same space/resource limits/etc. as before Only our newer Morty offering with more resources will be marketed as a paid product. HH operates at a loss currently, which is not sustainable long term...we got to keep the lights on somehow.
  10. Krydos has to do this for you
  11. Escalating to Krydos since the account in question doesn't exist according to the database. It also doesn't exist on any server that I can find. My guess is it was archived or suspended when the licenses were revoked...we deleted all of those from the database (I really wish we hadn't done this, it would make researching things much easier...). Suspended ones can be restored assuming they're eligible to be unsuspended, not sure how archived ones are handled though since they don't actually exist as an account. @Krydos: Would it be possible to update the ETA tool to understand archived/suspended accounts? As it stands the ETA tool doesn't even seem to understand the concept of a nonexistent account let alone a suspended/archived one. If not, can we at least make a list of these accounts visible to admins somewhere?

    Plesk ETA

There is no such account according to the database. Krydos might be able to find it, but I can't escalate the news post. Please make a new topic for this issue.
  13. It's also worth noting that at this point, we also have no idea when Plesk will actually be available. I personally had expected it to take no more than 2-3 months at the outset, but it's been 6 with no end in sight. Krydos is trying to get it working, but apparently the conversion tools Plesk provided for importing the cPanel accounts were severely inadequate and had to be basically rewritten. In the meantime, you can use SFTP to administer your site, or download a backup https://heliohost.org/backup/
  14. You can view existing mail by downloading the mail files from SFTP (they're kept in the mail folder in your home folder). There are folders inside for each domain and mailbox. The files with the really long random looking names are the actual emails. They are RFC 2822 compliant text files, and if you download and rename them to have a .eml extension, apps like Outlook and thunderbird can open them for viewing, sometimes with minor errors (.eml is a subset of RFC2822, the files you download meet 2822 but not necessarily the .eml substandard). As for accessing new mail, the mail server stopped working entirely when the licenses got revoked, so the mailbox shouldn't have any new mail. It's been bouncing since July.
  15. Krydos needs to do this.
  16. The servers are slower than normal due to the license issues and ongoing work to migrate to Plesk. Tommy had his resource amounts reduced so we could create a second VM that will eventually become the Plesk version of Tommy. For our other servers, they're not being actively monitored for performance/load (a lot of stuff needed for our scripts like APIs stopped working when the licenses were revoked), so it's possible abusive or broken websites are causing load and impacting performance. If you decide to find another host, keep in mind that even though you've left, as long as you don't request your existing cPanel account be deleted or suspended, you're able to keep your place in line to be moved to Plesk when it becomes available. Once moved, your account will be taken offline and archived if not in use. If you decide to come back later, you can have your account restored by asking for it, no registration hassle needed. Also, if you're willing to pay for hosting, we can offer you a VPS instead which will be faster and isn't impacted by the shared hosting performance issues. Those start at $4/month for a basic plan. We can help you set it up and move your website if you've never used a VPS before, and also move to a free Plesk server when it's available and cancel the subscription. A large number of our long-term users have gone this route and been happy with the performance of their VPS and a few have even said they have no plans to go back to the shared hosting now.
  17. Gone.
  18. Krydos can update this for you.
  19. Krydos can generate an updated backup for you.
  20. $1 minimum. Anything less and it all ends up going to Paypal as fees. We don't give credit for donations to Paypal's bottom line
  21. You can access your account using SFTP and make changes that way. https://wiki.helionet.org/management/uploading-files#ftp-sftp
  22. It's a donation, not a purchase. The Tommy account is just a gift we give to donors as a way of saying thank you. Due to technical constraints, it is not something we can currently offer. We clearly indicate that we aren't accepting new accounts if you read our website: https://www.heliohost.org/signup/ (you'll notice all of them say CLOSED except for VPSes, which are a different product that is sold as monthly subscription). We have also discussed the license and Plesk transition in detail in our News section: https://www.helionet.org/index/forum/1-news/ As for why we still accept donations, we still have to pay our providers despite not offering new accounts, and websites belonging to an existing cPanel account are being kept online without the control panel. If we stopped collecting money and instead turned off the servers and cancelled our service with our provider, over 10,000 websites would just disappear off the internet. Those with existing accounts who donate also get moved up in line to get Plesk sooner when it becomes available. Can provide the transaction ID of the donation? I'll be happy to check to see if we can refund it, but generally for these tiny donations, the Paypal fees for the initial donation plus a refund end up exceeding the amount we received from the donation.
  23. We haven't been accepting new accounts since July because our cpanel licenses have been revoked. Please see our news section for details. It's impossible to create new accounts at this time. We're in the progress of converting our systems to Plesk, but we have no idea when that will be done. Once that is done and public registration opens, we can send an invite using this donation, but it may be several months before that happens.
  24. Krydos can assign this to your account (the email address on Paypal is different from your hosting account). $15 on October 14, 2020 for the first one, this should count. Second one is either a GoFundMe donation, an invalid transaction ID, or old enough to have fallen out of Paypal (which would mean it's also old enough to be disqualified due to age...Paypal keeps 3 years of records, but we're only counting donations on or after July 14, 2020).
