[HH#792786] Not letting me finish the sign up procedure
Krydos replied to HelioHost's topic in Email Support
Let us know if you figure out which plugin is causing issues. You're the third person in the last few weeks who has suddenly reported our signup process is acting strange, but the first two people stopped responding to us so we weren't able to get any information out of them. The strange part is we haven't changed any code, and every day plenty or people are able to signup without issues, so only a small percentage of people are seeing this issue, and we can't reproduce it. -
[HH#792786] Not letting me finish the sign up procedure
Krydos replied to HelioHost's topic in Email Support
I tested your link in Google Chrome and it accepted the username and asked for a password like it's supposed to too. Do you have the latest version of Chrome? If not try updating. Do you have any plugins installed in Chrome? If so maybe try disabling them? -

I tried clicking your invite link and it suggested the username leejheath. I just clicked next without changing it and it asked for a password like it's supposed to. Which browser are you using? -
[HH#792786] Not letting me finish the sign up procedure

Which username did you submit? -
Let us know if you find a vulnerability for a particular kernel, and we can update the server. Generally we keep the server fairly up to date anyways so it's unlikely that anything like that will be an issue. It seems like you must be new to Linux because it's literally always been this way. We used cPanel from 2005 until 2021 and it was the same way too, and now Plesk is the same from 2021 to 2025. If it was a security issue I think cPanel or Plesk or CentOS or Alma Linux would have fixed it in the last 20 years.

[Solved] I can’t SSH into my VPS, and the website isn’t working.
Krydos replied to jengcharat's topic in Escalated Requests
MoneyBroz tried to do a backup for you last night, and was having trouble with it so I told him to give up and I'd take a look at it today. I took a look at it myself just now, and I'm unable to access the filesystem either. It looks like it locked up too many times, and was forcibly rebooted too many times and it destroyed the filesystem. I went ahead and started the rebuild for you. You'll get an email in a few minutes when it's done. -
Just let us know when you're ready to increase your Morty balance and we can provide a link to set up the payment. For something like a Morty balance increase it's not that big of a deal if the money takes a couple weeks to arrive. We will send you an email when you have about a month's worth of balance left.
-
Your previous balance was $1.4062 plus $6.00 ($1.00 bonus) means you have $7.4062 now. Thanks. Yes, if you have a routing number and an account number you could send us the money via Stripe with much less fees than a credit card. PayPal does not allow payments like this. The only downside to this e-check method of payment is it can take up to 2 weeks to verify the payment went through.

I have started your account reset process. If you need any of your files they can be downloaded from https://heliohost.org/backup and we have a guide on how to extract the backup at https://wiki.helionet.org/Account_Backups In a few minutes you'll receive an email with a link. Click the link in that email (not this email) to take the next step in the reset process.

[Inactive] Help me to remove my account suspension
Krydos replied to trycatchtales's topic in Escalated Requests
Since your account was hacked our policy is to require an account reset. Are there any files or databases that you need backed up? A root admin will need to check each file by hand to make sure it doesn't contain any credit card numbers, passwords, social security numbers, etc. so we're not going to check 20k files. If you need just a couple files they can be backed up though. -
Welcome back, Hunter! We missed you. Yes, the signup process is a little different. Previously we just sent the Tommy invite to the email address you had listed in PayPal, but that didn't always work for everyone. Now we ask for an email address, validate it it, and then ask for the donation afterwards. This seems to be working better for people. Yes, if you delete your account we do reserve a space on the server for you, if you ever decide to come back, so you don't need to donate again. But of course we aren't going to stop people from donating whatever amount and whenever they want. No, you can't add domains on your own yet, but of course our volunteers can add the domains for you if you want a new domain, or want to change your main domain.

[Solved] I can’t SSH into my VPS, and the website isn’t working.
Krydos replied to jengcharat's topic in Escalated Requests
Sure, just let us know which directories do you need, and we can make the backup for you. -
Yep, that is correct.
-
Closing due to inactivity since there has been no response in this thread for over a week. If you're still having this issue or need help with something else please open a new ticket.

Since your account was transferred from cPanel I recommend doing the reset option 3 from above. These ancient accounts tend to have a lot of issues and strange bugs anyways compared to accounts that were created directly on Plesk. I went ahead and created a full backup for you which you can download from https://heliohost.org/backup You can read the instructions for extracting the backup at https://wiki.helionet.org/Account_Backups Let us know when you're ready to proceed with the reset, or what you'd like to do.

You're currently paying $21.60 per 6 months for VPS111. Purchasing a second VPS with the same memory, CPUs, and storage would also be $21.60 per 6 months.

[Solved] I can’t SSH into my VPS, and the website isn’t working.
Krydos replied to jengcharat's topic in Escalated Requests
It looks like you installed XFCE Desktop, which is a Desktop intended for Desktop computers, not servers. Since it is intended for Desktop computers it disables SSH by default. I tried to reinstall SSH for you, but apt is completely broken too, so nothing cane be installed or uninstalled. The CPU is pegged at 100%, the memory usage is at 100%, and most of the swap is in use too, so it took me about 30 minutes to even reboot it. We recommend doing a free rebuild to start over and reinstall the OS. Since you can't even access the VPS yourself right now, we would have to do that for you. Do you need any files saved before we wipe it? -
I just tested the Johnny signup process and it worked fine for me. Plus other people were able to create Johnny accounts an hour and 22 minutes ago. What browser are you using?

Which plan are you trying to signup for?

[Solved] Requesting Additional Python Modules
Krydos replied to fabrizziofabiano's topic in Escalated Requests
Installed. You can see the current list of installed modules for Tommy's Python 3.12 at https://krydos1.heliohost.org/pyinfo/info3.12.py -
Your VPS failed to boot because there is so much filesystem damage from locking up over and over that it entered emergency mode instead of booting up. Each time your VPS runs out of memory and locks up it causes filesystem damage which means it is less likely to boot up correctly the next time. We've recommended several time increasing the memory on your VPS, or reduce the memory usage of your programs by uninstalling some of them. Since you failed to follow our advice and your VPS is in such bad shape we're also going to have to recommend doing a free rebuild now too. This means that all files and all settings will be deleted, and your operating system will be installed fresh again. If there are any files or settings you need, you should create a backup of them and download the backup somewhere safe prior to requesting the rebuild.

I noticed you randomly received a review link emailed to you on 2025-07-20. We would really appreciate it if you could click the link in the email and leave us a 5 star review, and write a sentence or two about your experience using our hosting. The reason we recommend using the link in the email is because pretty much all 5 star reviews that don't use those special invite links get deleted. It will only take you a couple minutes, and each 5 star review helps tremendously for new customers to find us, which helps keep us in business. Since we're a non-profit run by volunteers we don't have a budget for advertising, so this kind of free word of mouth recommendations are invaluable to us. Thanks in advance.

The new payment has been linked to your VPS, and your new expiration date is 2026-06-12. It should bill automatically for another 6 months for $21.60 on that date, but if it fails again for some reason we'll email you.
