[Solved] Suspended: hh_bruno4me
wolstech replied to bruno4me's topic in Suspended and Queued Accounts
We don't track access to content, so we have no way of knowing whether it was being accessed or not (not that it matters...we aren't going to let someone get ripped off before we take action). As for how we find it, it's a combination of custom anti-phishing technology and abuse reports received from major anti-phishing vendors. We ban accounts in response to those findings because we're required to do so by law and the terms of the contract with our provider. If we don't ban these sites when reported, we can be put out of business by our provider and/or sued for condoning illegal activity. As for "educational" use, you're welcome to use our services for that, but you must NOT host anything that can be mistaken for a major company. That means you're welcome to create a logon form, but you're not welcome to claim it's Amazon or some other website's logon form. An invite for a new account has been sent to you. -
This account has been moved to Tommy, however the database unicenta_doli393 failed to transfer because MySQL stopped responding during the restore. The database can be manually restored using cPanel and PhpMyAdmin using the .sql files found in the cpmove_failed_mysql_dbs folder inside your home folder. IP unblocked. That should take effect in a few minutes. I can't move your account at the moment though because I'm on mobile. I'll do that when I get to a PC if another admin doesn't do it first.

[Solved] Suspended: hh_bruno4me
wolstech replied to bruno4me's topic in Suspended and Queued Accounts
It's banned for phishing because a fake Amazon login page was hosted on the account (specifically on one of the marketsquare domains). HelioHost does not tolerate Phishing activity of any kind, and permanently bans any user account that engages in such activity. EDIT: Just realized you have two accounts too. Not only does having two accounts violate our terms of service on its own, the account also has 4 Amazon domains attached to it (though no content uploaded yet). If I had to guess that one will eventually go phishing too and is now also banned. -
Done. If you see a queued page or 404 error, please clear your cache. Thank you for the donation.

[Solved] Um... I'm not sure what happened but...
wolstech replied to guntxjak's topic in Customer Service
Yes, Tommy is much more stable and doesn't experience these issues. There's the occasional load spike, but not nearly as often as with Johnny. -
[Solved] Requesting ffmpeg on Tommy Server
wolstech replied to sunnylo's topic in Escalated Requests
Oh, node.js application. Lets see if Krydos can get this installed. -
[Inactive] Education accounts request: dctidata
wolstech replied to dctidata's topic in Escalated Requests
The account dctidata has been unarchived. The other 40 accounts don't exist. I believe we've done educational use requests in the past though, so I'll pass this on to our other administrator Krydos to see how he wants to go about handling this. He'll post here with an answer when he sees this topic. Krydos will want to know a bit more about how these accounts will be used, who will be using them, and for how long. He'll have specific questions I'm sure, but if you want to provide an overview of the program in question and what sort of projects the students will be running on the accounts, that would be a good start -
[Solved] Archive restore failure: syedraza
wolstech replied to syedraza's topic in Escalated Requests
This account cannot be restored due to a server error: A database owner with the name syedraza already exists. Krydos can get this restored for you, but your username will be changed in the process. -
Please check your PMs.

[Solved] Requesting ffmpeg on Tommy Server
wolstech replied to sunnylo's topic in Escalated Requests
FFMpeg is notorious for causing high load (video conversion is extremely resource intensive). Also, keep in mind that exec() and it's equivalents are disabled, so you'll need the extension if you're using PHP. Buying a VPS is a better choice if you're planning to do video conversions. That said, the lighter features of ffmpeg (like the file information tools) have been used successfully here in the past. What version of PHP are you going to be using it with (or are you not using PHP)? -
[Solved] Can't connect to my database on Johnny after password change
wolstech replied to munny's topic in Customer Service
Good to hear. Cache tends to bite everyone from time to time (in fact, I just finished chasing my tail with some software I installed that didn't work...turned out to be stale cache...) Please let us know if you need anything else.- 5 replies

[Solved] Can't connect to my database on Johnny after password change
wolstech replied to munny's topic in Customer Service
Where are you seeing that message? cPanel and PhpMyAdmin are working correctly. If you're trying to connect remotely, it's getting locked out because you don't have remote mysql enabled. If you're having issues with your website connecting to mysql, be sure you're using localhost as the hostname (do not use johnny.heliohost.org if the script is running on the server).- 5 replies

[Inactive] wordpress with parked domain (aka alias)...
wolstech replied to masavini's topic in Customer Service
TIL a modern equivalent to that ancient mediawiki install actually exists. I remember the upgrade project being abandoned (I personally never liked MW anyway), but its interesting to see someone rebuilt it in better software. -
[Inactive] wordpress with parked domain (aka alias)...
wolstech replied to masavini's topic in Customer Service
You haven't waited for the domain to finish setting up. When you add a domain, it can take several hours before it works (up to 2 in most cases, but load can sometimes make it take longer). Wait a few hours, clear your browser cache, and try again. It'll probably work -
Your account was suspended for causing high server load. I have unsuspended your account, but please try to limit the load you put on our servers as it slows down not only your site, but the sites of all other HelioHost users sharing your server. <br /><br />If you still see the suspended page, please clear your cache.<br /><br />If you need help figuring out why your site is causing such high load let us know and we can try to help. If the high load is simply because your site is getting a lot of traffic, you might want to consider purchasing a VPS instead. https://www.heliohost.org/vps/ VPS hosting gives you an entire virtual server to yourself, including no load limits, a dedicated IP address, and full root access.

This was High load, which Wordpress is notorious for. WP is easily the worst cms out there when it comes to performance (and security, but that's another story). Woo commerce is known for being a dog too, so adding that to an already poorly written cms just make it that much worse. WP is the number one cause of high load suspensions, as well as of hacked websites, accidental phishing bans, and malware suspensions here. The fix for this issue will be to not use Wordpress. Just about every other cms in existence is faster, lighter, and more secure. Unsuspended.
