Yeah, I think it has to do with the international sanctions against Iran for their nuclear program. I thought those were lifting somewhat, but after researching ways to get money in and out of Iran it seems like they haven't, and given the recent political climate in the US are very likely to go stricter soon.

Skrill is pretty impressive. The major countries they don't support is Iran, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Can anyone find a service that works there? Especially Iran and Iraq. We have a lot of users there.

This is the problem. It's not particularly easy to transfer bitcoins to USD, and we can't pay our electric bill (for instance) with bitcoins. Paypal does the currency conversion for us so we can have our USD instantly without any extra work for us.

Yeah, you're not the only one who can't or doesn't want to use paypal. We're especially looking into alternatives that will work in countries that paypal doesn't operate in. If you have any other suggestions let us know. We'll take a look at amazon and bitcoins, but the problem with bitcoins is our bills cannot be paid directly with that currency.

Yes. Tommy is our flagship server that offers the most features, and will continue to have the highest uptime. However, Tommy is still being beta tested so he may have some bugs, and public account creation isn't available yet. We send out random free invites to create an account on Tommy, or if you make a donation https://www.paypal.me/HelioHost of any amount you will get an invite within 24 hours. Once Tommy is fully set up and done being tested we will offer limited daily signups for free. If you don't want to donate or wait or wait for Tommy, Johnny is our newest server created in the last week and offers free account creation, but signups are currently limited per day starting at midnight UTC and they fill up really fast. Also if you need Ruby on Rails support Johnny is your only choice.

We've sent out quite a few free invites for Tommy, but with 20,000 or so accounts in our system the chance of being randomly selected is pretty low. Johhny and Tommy use the same nameserver settings as Stevie, ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org. The rest of the settings we've already taken care of. You should be good to go. Let us know if you need any other help with anything though.

It looks like you tried to change your main domain to "nyten" which failed because it's not a valid domain. I have changed your domain to "nyten.heliohost.org" for you.

It caught us by surprise too. Stevie didn't give us any warning at all. Just crashed all of a sudden. Yes, you can create a new account on Tommy and restore your latest backup. If you would like to use the same username, domain, or email address let us know so we can free them up for you. Tommy has had 99.9% uptime for the last couple months since he was built and new Johnny has had 99.9% uptime for the last week or so since he's been rebuilt. We hope that these new servers will have as consistently high uptime as Stevie had for many years to come.
