I was actually thinking this same thing last night after that Brazilian guy was so angry about his ip getting blocked after trying a bunch of random username/password combinations. It can probably be done, but it'll for sure get overwritten each time we upgrade cpanel. We already have a ton of stuff that needs to be fixed after each cpanel upgrade though so it's not that big of a deal I guess. I've added it to my todo list.

I'm not sure anyone has done that before. If you're having permission errors it might mean that your directory isn't writable by the tomcat user. The .war runs as a different user from your account so you'll need to grant write permissions on the directory. Default directories are 755, and adding write permissions for group and other would make it 777.

I guess just use Google Cloud Platform tomcat server or a VPS then. I'm not sure why it would do that and you're the first person to report it. The only other thing I can think of is I can try deploying your .war on my Johnny account if you want so you can see if it works there.

Well, it's kind of pointless to remove the throttle if your account is going to continue sending so many emails because you'll just get automatically throttled again the next day. So far in the last 6 hours and 45 minutes you've send 12 emails. Let us know if you figure out where they're coming from.

The host and port that are provided in the ftp section of the management panel are provided by cpanel, not us, and they don't work for everyone. We always recommend the sftp settings I provided because they are much more secure, and work for everyone who has a client that supports sftp. I'll let cpanel know about your complaints.

Yeah, the information that cpanel lists for ftp doesn't work for a lot of people. Besides, sftp is much more secure so we always recommend it.

Why do you want to host images outside of public_html? What would that accomplish?

That .war file could not be deployed because java is not enabled on your account. To request java access please go to https://johnny.heliohost.org:2083/frontend/paper_lantern/java/index.live.php and click Request Java. Once java is enabled let us know again and your .war file can be deployed. Please be aware that due to high demand the wait to receive java on Johnny, which is the server you picked, is currently very long. The wait to receive java on the Tommy server is generally just a few hours.
