Things are pretty hectic right now. Services may go up and down.
-
Hey I remember stendhal! fun game. And as for your question, maybe. You'd have better luck asking the guys who are in charge of that project and not the helionet forums.
-
Strange, I type in me.com, I get a hit for mobileme, something to do with apple. You sure you have that domain?
-
Everything has already been explained. Search the forum for the announcements.
-
Register the .com before registering with heliohost.
-
Have you logged in to cpanel before? Make sure you type in your username in all lowercase. It won't let you log in otherwise.
-
That bug should be fixed too.

Prove you wrong? My pleasure. First of all, your spelling and conventions are lacking, thereby lowering your credibility to make any claim about our hosting at all. Secondly, the use of cursing is unnecessary and shows that you haven't read the rules and etiquette pages of the forum, further lowering your credibility. Thirdly, we do not charge anyone for hosting, if you haven't notice yet, our url ends in .org, denoting that we are an organization. This means that all this is supported by volunteers and the admins, who are volunteering their time as well. If you aren't familiar with the term, a volunteer is one who doesn't get paid; therefore, you are not my customer and I can tell you to to hell . On another note, last time I checked, we're number one at free-webhosts.com Lastly, we don't really want people like you around here. You are trying to force help when clearly we do not need to give it to you. If freehostia is faster, go to them, no one is stopping you nor will anyone miss you. I challenge you to have a maturity level/communication skills higher than that of a pubescent pre-teen. Don't worry, you'll be banned soon enough, and we'll be rid of one more troll. Cheers. Now to wait for Dilip to come up with some lame comeback that will have no relevance to my points whatsoever. Such is the nature of the internet.

Uh.. you need to post 400 times before you can even think of requesting a top level domain. If you've already registered a domain name, you change your DNS to ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org. If you don't know what you're doing, I suggest getting a subdomain first, i.e. whatever.heliohost.org. Learn the ropes on that, then get a TLD.

OK to change permissions on settings.php file
Wizard replied to stefanscottalexx's topic in Customer Service
Tanks, Wizard. Yeah, it is in my account. If I screw up my Drupal installation, I guess I can just delete it and re-install it from scratch. I haven't added any content yet anyways. I'm still on square one, just trying to get my base URL to redirect to a subdirectory, while still looking pretty. Drupal-specific comment: Strangely enough, when I go to http://mydomain.com now it does redirect properly, and it does display the $base_url http://mydomain.com which is what I wanted - without my having edited '/public_html/mydrupal/sites/default/settings.php'. Maybe the system is clairvoyant or something. Thanks! djbob is known to be quite magic... for a non-Wizard anyways. -
Hey djbob, this might interest you. I've glitched myself a free account before too. One that you did not detect. It was on the old server and I let it die; but if it's on the new server, the glitch might still be present. It may become be a security risk if someone finds a way to reproduce/exploit it.

Well if it's in your account, then yeah, sure. If you screw up your account though, it's not our fault. I know a few people who have deleted public_html/ before with bad results. -
Well I could, but it takes several hours for it to take effect, then several hours to change it back. It would just be a whole lot easier to look at the webspace directly. Is there any reason I'm not allowed to know it? Probably not, but I don't know anything about your hard url, djbob will probably tell you though.
-
Can't you just change teh DNS entry back if you're unsatisfied?
-
You have to post 400 times *beforehand*. Also, you'll have to request a domain from this subforum. You'll need to read the rules too... the domain rules are in the link.

"HelioHost Account Error" Upon Registration
Wizard replied to moodlifter's topic in Customer Service
Thank you, just tried again. Wondering if you or another admin can verify that it went through. Thanks. We only have one admin, you'll just have to wait it out. But there's a good chance that your registration went through. -
Please read this before making the admin more annoyed. Thanks.
-
This is a forum, you are not entitled to support from anyone but the admin, and when he's busy, no one else has to answer you. On the other hand, no one but the admin may have the expertise to answer your question. Best be patient, ex. don't double post. Edit: (lol, the admin beat to it.)

You're not alone. You can only wait til this gets fixed. There's something weird going on with the server right now, it's being worked on. -
You'll all have to wait for djbob to get on this. There's currently some issues with our server, Stevie, and djbob's doing his best to fix it all.
-
Yeah, dude, if you are new to the art of website creation, research some before you make a dumb mistake like you did.
-
Maybe he has the same problem as the other guy. The old server never took his ip off? Or are you talking about his forum account?
