  1. After uploading and activating a couple of small, fairly popular Drupal modules using Drupal's admin/modules/list screen (the "Language Icons" module which is only a 18k tar.gz archive, and later the "Theme Settings API" module which is only a 10k tar.gz archive) I've gotten an error message such as: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 605885 bytes) in /home/scotalex/public_html/mydrupal/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 321 Unfortunately, after activating the module in Drupal and getting this error, from then on the error also appears whenever you try to de-activate the module (via the same screen in Drupal - admin/modules/list) - so it's kind of hard to back out of this error. (Forunately I found alternate methods to back out of it both times it happened, deleting some stuff directly via the cPanel File Manager, so I wouldn't have to delete my whole Drupal install and start over!) I understand that there are lots of users on helio and the amount of memory is limited. I'm just unsure what to do right now, because these small modules are already hitting helios memory limits - and later I'm going to have to add a few larger modules in Drupal (CCK, Views, Panels - and CCK alone is a 1.2MB tar.gz archive). I don't want to do anything too fancy - but in order to get a decent-looking Drupal site you do have to add in a few basic modules. Am I really hitting a helios memory limit already - or does this have something do do with some cPanel maintanance that I heard about here: http://www.helionet.org/index/index.php?showtopic=3860 I see someone else is also hitting memory limits as well, using a different application in their helios account: http://www.helionet.org/index/index.php?showtopic=3908
  2. Sometimes I get the following error - both when trying to access my site, and when trying to access this forum. Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@helionet.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/2.2.10 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.10 OpenSSL/0.9.8b mod_mono/1.9 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 mod_jk/1.2.25 mod_wsgi/2.0 Python/2.4.3 Server at www.helionet.org Port 80 This error happened just now (4:45pm GMT-3:00 ie 19:45 GMT) - then I kept trying a few more times and the error went away. Is this due to too much load on the server?
  3. Working fine for me now - thanks djbob and Wizard. Actually I think I wasn't accessing it properly before. Although cPanel may have been down for a while earlier today as djbob mentioned, I now see that I probably wasn't accessing it properly most of time - since I forgot that my laptop here at home is behind a firewall. It all gradually dawned on me once I noticed that that being able or unable to access cPanel seemed to depend on which of two URL variants I enter in my browser: (1) If I went to: http://mysubdomain.co.cc/cpanel Then my browser would go to another screen which says "Detecting your internet connection..." and displaying two buttons: > "If you are not behind a firewall that blocks port 2082 - Enter Here" > "If you are behind a firewall and can not connect to port 2082 - Enter Here" I'm on a laptop at home, and I assumed I wasn't behind a firewall that blocked port 2082, so I was always clicking the "no firewall" button (which worked fine all day yesterday. However, today clicking on the "no firewall" button started giving me a error "Problem loading page - Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at stevie.heliohost.org:2082" - so I assumed cPanel wasn't working. Hmm... (2) Later I noticed there were other methods where I could access cPanel, even when the above method didn't work: ( a ) I noticed I could get in if I accidentally got distracted and didn't click either button on the above screen. After about 30 seconds cPanel appeared. Then I realized: duh, I am behind a firewall, and it's probably blocking Port 2082! I'm using PC-Cillin on my laptop here at home, and it includes a firewall of course. I just checked my current firewall settings, and Port 2082 as being enabled or disabled for outgoing connections - so it's probably disabled by default, so I couldn't get in! ( b ) I noticed I could get in if I went to: http://cpanel.mysubdomain.co.cc/fro...d/x3/index.html (an address stored in my browser's URL field dropdown) or http://cpanel.mysubdomain.co.cc (the shorter form of the above address) ( c ) So putting all the above together, I realized that I should also be able to get in if I went to: http://mysubdomain.co.cc/cpanel and clicked on the button: > "If you are behind a firewall and can not connect to port 2082 - Enter Here" and of course, this time it worked. Eureka. I'm going ahead and posting this long-winded explanation here on the off-chance it might help some other person who also doesn't realize they're behind a firewall. :-)
  4. I guess you already know this but... cPanel seems to have been down most of the day - I've been checking periodically. I can access my site (as a visitor) but can't login using cPanel (as an administrator). I understand that disk space is getting low on 'Stevie' so this is probably why cPanel has been disabled. The HelioHost staff seems very talented and well-informed, so I hope you manage to get the additional hardware resources you need to support the excellent human resources you have on this site.
  5. Tanks, Wizard. Yeah, it is in my account. If I screw up my Drupal installation, I guess I can just delete it and re-install it from scratch. I haven't added any content yet anyways. I'm still on square one, just trying to get my base URL to redirect to a subdirectory, while still looking pretty. Drupal-specific comment: Strangely enough, when I go to http://mydomain.com now it does redirect properly, and it does display the $base_url http://mydomain.com which is what I wanted - without my having edited '/public_html/mydrupal/sites/default/settings.php'. Maybe the system is clairvoyant or something. Thanks!
  6. Hi - I noticed the permissions on file '/public_html/mydrupal/sites/default/settings.php' (inside my Drupal installation directory) are read-only. Is it ok if I switch the permissions on this file to read-write? The reason I wanted to edit this file is in order to redirect the URL http://mydomain.com to http://mydomain.com/mydrupal for my Drupal site - while still displaying http://mydomain.com in the browser's address field, as per this suggestion: http://www.wanderings.net/notebook/Main/Re...ToRootDirectory Thanks.
  7. Yes, I just managed to log to cPanel now and I was coming here to post a message saying it's now working again. Thanks!
  8. I'm getting the same message, a few hours later this afternoon (3:30pm GMT-3:00). On a few previous tries a couple minutes earlier, instead of this message I simply got a 404 'website not found' error in Firefox, which had me really worried. If it's just low disk space then that solves that mystery!
  9. OK, thanks djbob! Will look at Fantastico soon to see if it has Drupal.
  10. Thanks djbob (and Wizard)! This morning at 7am I sat down at the machine and went to mydomain.co.cc and got your login screen! Way cool! The DNS propagation happened really fast, overnight. So now I logged in at mydomain.co.cc/cpanel and I'm reading the 'Getting Started Wizard'. Thanks!
  11. Hi - I just posted two questions about HelioHost in the forum 'HelioNet > General Discussion > Website Management and Coding' ... but now I see I should have posted them here in this forum 'HelioNet > HelioHost > Questions'. Sorry about that - it's been a long day Maybe someone from the site could move those two questions here to this forum when you have a chance? Thanks!
  12. Hi - I was interested in using the Drupal CMS (Content Management System), which is based on PHP and MySQL. Is this supported on HelioHost? Is it something that I can add by using Fantastico? Thanks!
  13. Hi - I just signed up on HelioHost using a co.cc domain, and I have couple of silly questions: (1) On http://www.heliohost.org/home/wrapper-mainmenu-8 for 'Desired Domain' I selected 'Other' in the drop-down menu, and entered "mydomain.co.cc". Now I'm kind of wondering if it had been more correct to enter "www.mydomain.co.cc" - or is this equivalent to "mydomain.co.cc"? If I screwed this up, is there any way I can fix it now (or you could fix it from your end)? When I go to co.cc, it shows my domain as "mydomain.co.cc" (not "www.mydomain.co.cc"). (2) I went to co.cc and in the Setup for Name Servers I entered: ns1.heliohost.org ns2.heliohost.org Is that all I have to do on co.cc Setup? (There's some stuff on co.cc Setup about "Zone Records" and "URL Forwarding" so that's why I was wondering.) Sorry to be asking such basic questions - this is the first time I've registered a domain. Thanks.
