  1. lol. I didn't get that, RK. but i agree with kyougi...Linux has definitely been around for a long time as a popular server...people just don't notice it.
  2. ...utorrent is a bit torrent program. Azureus is definitely the best. And the programs themselves aren't slow, the download speed may be slow depending on where you are...pakistan? Torrents are way better for downloading large files, because you can pick up right where you left it before. Also, theres a bit of peer evaluation, meaning that, if a file isn't good, people won't seed it and it probably won't be widely distributed. And bit torrent is not illegal. If you download legal files.
  3. i doubt theres security personelle checking to make sure these files are not being distributed...after all, it's the Internet. yes, the government may be able to keep track of EVERYTHING you do, but it would be like picking a grain of sand out on the beach...theres so many people sharing illegal files (internationally) that it's extremely difficult to stop it...it's not only hard, but its very close to impossible. to control the distribution of illegal "stuff" you'd have to be able to determine whether a file is illegal or not...(and sometimes whether it's legal or not is a question unto itself) and to figure whether its illegal or not you'd have to actually obtain the file and scan it, open it, view the source code, or something - you can't figure it out by just looking at the file name. and that would be impossible to check all the files on the internet. and i'm not exagerating "impossible" - as soon as, assuming it's possible, all the files on the Internet are checked and approved to be legal, someone can immediately create a new file and put it out there. i'm doubtful that it can be stopped.
  4. you could try asking in the customer service forum about .htaccess...i'm not sure what djbob has allowed...but what exactly do u need that for? theres probably other ways of doing it too
  5. ehh. flyakite's alright. i got bored of the mac look after awhile though.
  6. ah man. i was so excited...but i always come back to the fact that so many windows applications can't be found on linux...and then i remembered programs like Wine...my friend says that applications run slower on Wine though - is this true? it makes sense, but is it a great difference? //edit never mind...the Wine website at least claims it's just as fast...and i don't know how to delete this post...lol. but it's pretty cool that Dell's starting to sell laptops with ubuntu...
  7. yeah that's true the ending sucked. but im excited for the third.
  8. hmm. im looking at the fedora webpage, and when picking CPU, the three torrents are labeled x86, x86_64, and PPC - I have an AMD Athlon 64 Processor...so would that be x86_64? >< and what exactly is preconfigured in ubuntu that isn't in fedora? also, i tried the ubuntu live cd, and i couldn't change the resolution...but that's only cause of the live cd, right? also, what are the differences between and the pros/cons of KDE and GNOME? i appreciate the help
  9. um dont you mean they're legal IF you don't do those things? lol...
