When I did a speed test with Gtmetix I found out that my website loaded in only 1.2 seconds with a TTFB of 963 milliseconds. That is really fast considering, 1 I did not optimize the speed of my website, 2 I used WordPress, three I have a ton of different posts, and 4 this is a FREE hosting. To compare that a website hosted on a good webserver in Hostinger (a paid shared hosting plan) with nothing on it had also had a loading speed of 1.2 seconds. The first of the Tommy beta test invitation emails have been sent. The invites are being sent to our top donors on the Tommy server whose accounts have properties we want to test with the transfer script. I have been using Godaddy’s web hosting plan for the past year or so, and I am happy to say Heliohost is so much better. First, while Godaddy offers 100x more storage, they limit you on the number of files you can have. Next they have shell access, but it is extremely limited. They also don’t allow you to install third party SSL certificates, they just try to force you to buy their pro SSL plan. They also don’t have as good of a DNS manager. I just wanted to post this for anyone wanting to try them. Heliohost, the free service, is better than Godaddy, the paid one.

We have a substantial number of shared hosting users who are donors but bought a VPS due to the server not working, so there's a decent overlap between "large shared host donor" and "VPS user" at the moment. Many of those will likely go back to shared hosting when it's available again, both because of the cost and because a VPS involves a good amount of work to configure and maintain.
