robev started following Close VPS and reopen Tommy
-
Hi. I've had both a free account on Tommy and a paid VPS for several years. I don't really use the VPS features so I'd like to close my VPS and migrate back to using my account on Tommy. https://robbiewolfe.heliohost.org username robev I've backed up what I want from my VPS. When I tried logging in using FTP to my Tommy account, it says "Authentication failed. Could not connect to server". The account details I'm using are tommy2.heliohost.org, port 1373 Perhaps those have changed? I haven't logged in in a few years. When I logged in to Plesk, it says my account was suspended. It also says there's 1001.5 MB used of 1000 MB, perhaps that's why? I'm not sure why so much space is being used. Perhaps wordpress backups. But I can't log in to FTP to check... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Your account has been unsuspended and the mailbox passwords for all of your mailboxes have been randomized. You'll need to reset your mailbox passwords to use them. I also removed the forwarder from diretoria@escolasmt address. Forwarded emails count as sent messages (and you had 4 recipients, so each email it received caused 4 emails to be sent). We highly recommend not using forwarders, as just receiving mail will cause you to exceed your mail limit through no fault of your own. Users are limited to 50 sent emails per day for the entire account, so with that forwarder, receiving just 13 emails would've caused you to exceed the limit.

Unblocked. It was listed as DDOS, so was the firewall trying to mitigate downtime on Johnny due to an attack (the user whose site was the target of that attack since been banned). During these attacks, anyone who opens more than a few connections to the server is prone to being blocked, including users unrelated to the attack and visitors to your website. In the event of another attack it is completely possible you'll get blocked if you access your site during the attack.

From my home IP, 73.180.xx.xx, either my domain, https://johnny.heliohost.org/, or even the login through the main web site times out, just as has happened before. I load a web page maybe once a day, but it might be triggered by use of a machine with Firefox ESR and Win11 beta channel. Beyond an unblock, please remediate this issue so it doesn't happen again. Also, no more discord chat icon on the heliohost site?

Domain added. If you're not already using HelioHost's nameservers, you'll need to create an A/AAAA record to Tommy's IP address. It'll take effect in about 100 minutes.

Request to increase max_input_vars to 5000 (PHP Settings)
Krydos replied to costacja's topic in Escalated Requests
Yes, I can change the max_input_vars, but if you change the PHP version the max_input_vars will go back to the default value. Therefore you should make sure you're using the correct version of PHP prior to changing the max_input_vars. Generally it's a good idea to use the latest version of PHP that your software supports. Since Moodle doesn't support PHP 8.5 yet, that means PHP 8.4 is the latest support version, and yet you're using PHP 8.3. Like I said, is there any particular reason you can't use PHP 8.4? -
Request to increase max_input_vars to 5000 (PHP Settings)
costacja replied to costacja's topic in Escalated Requests
Hi, I have installed Moodle 5.0.3 via Softaculous on my subdomain elearning.minutice.helioho.st, and it works well with PHP 8.3 and 8.5. However, when I try to upgrade to Moodle 5.0.6, the process fails. The error message states that max_input_vars must be set to at least 5000. Yesterday, I installed Moodle 5.1.3 from Softaculous in minutice.helioho.st domain, to try, and it works well. Besides the first installation, which works, I think that I cannot update or upgrade Moodle if max_input_vars isn´t set to 5000 at least. Based on my tests, the PHP version itself isn't the issue, but rather this specific setting required for the upgrade process. Could you please help me adjust this setting or update it on your end? Thanks, C. Costa -

It looks like Moodle doesn't support PHP 8.5 yet, but is there any particular reason you're not using PHP 8.4 which Moodle does support? -

We cannot remove this domain without resetting your account as this is set as your main domain. we can also change it to something else if you'd like if you don't want to reset your account.

Was testing out some URL rewrites in my .htaccess file and it doesn't appear to work, but wanted to double check. Thanks!

The domain user339058.helioho.st has been created and it points to your VPS. Each vps comes with a default vps###.heliohost.us domain that you can use or ignore. When we install Hestia for you we use vps158.heliohost.us:8083 for the Hestia login domain.
-
A root admin can point this domain to your VPS IP address. You can set it to any domain you want as long as you own it and is accessible, free subdomains can be set as the hostname as well.

Does VPS come with domain? I have a VPS under the username user339058 and was wondering if there can be a domain like user339058.helioho.st. Similarly I was trying to install Hestia control and it requested for a FQDN hostname. Would it be vps###.user339058.helioho.st?

Please be aware that replying to your own case will delay response time, as our system moves you to the back of the line each time a reply is added. Also, when the contents of a post contains the typical characteristics of AI-generated content (very wordy and verbose, predictable paragraph structure), this can be less interesting for our human volunteers to read and respond to. All staff are real humans. We like to read and reply to posts made by real humans, even if they contain spelling mistakes or errors if English is not a person's first language. All those human staff members are unpaid volunteers who assist here in their free time. They have responsibilities outside of HelioHost such as a full time job. They are not always online to read forum posts. In the meantime, please ensure you review our support response timelines (SLAs and ETAs), at: https://wiki.helionet.org/ETA For guidance on how Community-Powered Technical Support works, visit: https://wiki.helionet.org/FAQ#How_does_community-powered_support_work? Help is generally provided within 24 hours, and we encourage users to bump their requests if it's been more than 24 hours with no response, in case we missed it somehow. Our best efforts to respond within 24 hours can be impacted by several factors, including but not limited to: Time zone differences (most staff are based in North America) Work School Family Other real-life commitments Please be patient until you receive a response, as we work cases in the order received with the oldest requests first.
