[HH#435791] ADDON DOMAIN AND SUBDOMAN

Hello... is it a must i create addon domain with subdomain? I don't want

subdomain but it automatically created itself, I tried to delete it but i

can't cause its already linked to my addon domain.

Yes it is. Every add-on domain is stored as a subdomain of your primary domain, so you can't really remove it till your want the add-on to be removed. This is how cP works. Hope this clarifies things!

If you are talking about removing yourname.heliohost.org subdomain, then Change your main domain by 

http://www.heliohost.org/classic/support/scripts/domain/

 

After that delete the heliohost subdomain by

http://www.heliohost.org/classic/support/scripts/delete

Sorry, my mistake the script i posted for deletion is for Account Deletion. (@sohamb03, thanks for pointing it out)

As others have said, the subdomain is required. You cannot remove it without removing the addon domain that is associated with it.

This *is* unwanted many times. Luckily the subdomain name can be *anything*, not neccessarily the same as addon domain name, so make it random while adding the domain name (ie. "aejf74-dhjtru83-few7") if you don't want anyone to find it and access in the web.

By the way... While on Ricky (and other webhost with cPanel that I have access to) the document root folder for addon domain can be any folder within user home directory, on Johnny and Tommy it can be only inside of the main public_html - why? What if someone don't want the addon domain files being accessible trough primary.domain/addon-domain-folder/ URL? Of course, such access can be blocked with .htaccess, but user have to have knowledge how to do this.

The subdomain folder should be required to be in public_html on all three servers.
