I dislike WLM for its bloat (and I don't do Windows.) Pidgin FTW!

HTML help? Global headers/footers/sidebars
1337 replied to Jaded Catalyst's topic in Technology and the Internet
PHP include. Rename all pages to .php, and create a header.php and footer.php and place your header and footer in those, respectively. Then, at the top of every page, add: <?php include "header.php"; ?> and at the bottom.. <?php include "footer.php"; ?> -
Religious Pressure
1337 replied to XPlumpedXLipsXandXArsenicX's topic in Philosophy, Politics, and Science
I've also chosen science over religion, and I seriously agree that pushing religion onto someone isn't right. What's the point of religion anyways, I could understand religion if it was thousands of years ago when there was little scientific knowledge, but in 2008? It just doesn't make sense. -
Ah, I remember the days when HH was much smaller, everything was fast and there wasn't very much spam. Also, I like that new homepage

Emulators are perfectly legal, just not the games (yes, which kinda ruins the point, but you get what I mean)

I think he means phpBB control panels or any other frame-based ones.
-
Also, if you want to use a mysql database for another site, consider sites like freemysql.net (MySQL 4) or db4free.net (MySQL 5).
-
It's probably because the ads break the frames. Consider getting a posting plan or using phpbb3 which does not use frames in the ACP.

I dislike MySpace, mainly for poor coding and too must unneccessary junk on pages.
-
There's the posting plan, which requires you to make 25 posts per month to get ad-free hosting.

IPBFree actually runs the old version (1.3). Just the skin is updated

Every search engine (Google, Yahoo, Ask, etc) have their own "spider" which goes around the web to collect pages to build it's index.
-
It's probably because djbob didn't approve your account yet.

It's called a text ad rotator. Just pay for a spot and be in the main page rotation or something.

Yeah. The server won't let you go over 2MB, regardless of what you set in the max attachment size. So don't even bother: you can't do anything to increase it.

Google Maps and Google Earth both use the same imagery.

I'm all for net nuetrality. ISPs should not be able to control the internet, but do their primary job of just allowing access to the internet. And it wouldn't be fair to block competitors sites (ie. AT&T blocking Google/Gmail) just because they want more $$.

Google is the best and most accurate results. Yahoo is OK. MSN /Live is not that good. Ask = Nice interface, but the results aren't up to par.

For afraid.org, you'll have to add it through addon domains, and you have to just use ns3.heliohost.org NS record.

What is the speed of your internet connection?
1337 replied to surfcss's topic in Technology and the Internet
2.5mbps down, 427 up from across the state Not much difference to Texas. -
Dell began selling Ubuntu desktops, which makes desktop Linux closer and closer, and isn't just for nerds anymore. http://www.dell.com/open

The server doesn't have the GD library installed, which lets PHP generate images on the fly. Sorry

You get 10 helions per post. To get ad free hosting you must earn 250 helions (25 posts) each month. Note that you have to be a forum member for a week before you can get ad free hosting with the 250 helions. For 100MB of extra space and an extra gig of bandwidth, you need 1000 helions (100 posts) -
That would be $0.50 for 2 months of Posting Standard hosting, and $2 for a month of Posting+ hosting.
