Hello,

I'm writing to propose a new payment method for HelioHost that would work in countries where direct PayPal and traditional card payments via PayPal are restricted.

I have found that in my country, it is possible to purchase a PayPal balance card using a Visa or Mastercard. The recipient can then use this card to top up their PayPal balance.

This method requires the recipient's PayPal account number or the email address associated with the account.
Β

I suggest that HelioHost accept this as a new payment method. Here is how it would work:

  1. A customer would be able to see HelioHost's PayPal account email or ID on a visible page.

  2. The customer would then purchase a PayPal balance card for the desired amount and provide it to HelioHost.

  3. HelioHost would then use the card to top up its PayPal account.

  4. Upon successful top-up, HelioHost would confirm payment completion.
    Β

I believe this method would be a valuable option for customers in regions with payment limitations.

Thank you for your consideration.

This support request is being escalated for the attention of our root admins who handle the PayPal account. Thank you for the suggestion. πŸ™‚

Curious what Krydos says about this, but it seems like this would basically be the digital equivalent of mailing us a gift card and telling us redeem the GC as payment since an actual payment can't be processed...

Question for you: If you buy one of these cards, are you able to load it into your Paypal account then send the paypal balance via email address? I know our site doesn't let you use paypal balance as a payment method, but Paypal's own websiteΒ used to let you do this by entering an email address. If that option still exists you can enter admin@heliohost.orgΒ as the recipient and it should come to us.

According to my research PayPal does work in Egypt, but you can't send or receive money via "friends or family" which is fine for us because we always use "services or goods" for payments anyways. If someone asks you to send them money via PayPal as "friends or family" it is probably a scam because there is no buyer protection and you won't be able to dispute the payment.

We also have Stripe which we are planning on integrating into our website at some point. We already allow people to donate for Tommy, make a Morty purchase, or set up a VPS subscription using Stripe payment links, but it's not integrated into our website yet. People just have to ask us for a link.
