Unless it's a problem, can you then install Fastpanel so I have so I have an option in some circumstances. I tried Hestia and it is not suitable and others used too many resources for the system. If you have reason from experience to believe another panel is better suited please just make the call yourself. I will mostly just be using ssh. I tried to use the ticketing system but it would only allow me to login with my previous account david@hinkley.ca 2. I wanted the VPS to be an upgrade and replace the former server at davidhinkley.helioho.st ??????I couldn't do it by Switch to a different hosting plan though - it wouldn't allow it ??????I thought I finally succeeded but then it used the email from my paypal - which is this one ??????I normally only use this email for paypal My real preference is to have the VPS using david@hinkley.ca like I intended. I probably should have contacted someone as soon as things were going wrong in the hosting plan upgrade process. ________________________________

That said, to answer your other questions: VPSes are always registered under the Paypal email address since it's the only email address we receive when you purchase. There have been discussions around allowing users to provide an email during signup instead of using their Paypal address, but there is no ETA on that functionality's availability. We can change the email for you if you'd like, but there is no self-serve way for a VPS customer to do this. (On the Plesk shared hosting accounts, users can change the email themselves through the Plesk Profile options). Note that changing the email on your hosting account does not affect your forum account (they are separate systems). The reason you could not move/upgrade your Tommy Plesk hosting account into a VPS is because they're entirely different products. Plesk accounts can only switch to other Plesk plans. To switch to a VPS, you just buy a VPS then delete the Plesk account from the dashboard if you no longer want it.

We can't remove the Paypal email entirely though because it is used to link the payments to the account. A rebuild has been started on the VPS as well. You should receive an email when it finishes.

Krydos Posted April 16, 2025 Posted April 16, 2025 Your VPS has been rebuilt with Ubuntu 24 and Fastpanel. I put the login information for Fastpanel in /home/davidssh/fastpanel.txt. Your next free rebuild will be available on 2025-05-16. If you need another rebuild prior to that date they can be purchased for $1 each. We used to offer unlimited free rebuilds, but one person took advantage of our generosity and requested about 50 rebuilds in a single month so we had to set a limit. The domain davidhinkley.helioho.st has been moved to point to your VPS instead of your Tommy account.

Definitely not with Fastpanel this time I have the domain hinkley.cloud now with the nameservers: launch1.spaceship.net launch2.spaceship.net I guess I'll do without a web panel for now and try to learn without it because I can't find a good free option for my simple needs.
