szhiro
Hi HelioHost! It's been my pleasure to grab an opportunity to use Johnny server from HelioHost! As an appreciation, I donated My Microsoft points of 1000points, which is worth USD1. I would like to move my Johnny server to Tommy server.Username: szhiro, Server: Johnny, Main domain: zhirofund.com
Unknown025
I've escalated your thread so an administrator can confirm the donation. Once that's done, we'll be able to set up a Tommy account for you.
Krydos
Once the donation is verified we'll get you on Tommy. Since this is the first time anyone has donated Microsoft points we have no idea how long it will take to verify.

For them to send over every 1000points =USD1 worth, probably will take about one to three month, if I am not mistaken. Anyway, I can wait, no problem, as an appreciation from me to further support HelioHost web server hosting, I donated another 5000points and 3000points respectively😁 Edited September 12 by szhiro
Krydos
Wow, thanks. Ashoat and I have been trying to get these donations verified, but he's in Europe travelling right now so it's taking longer than it normally would.
Krydos
Just to give you an update, we do have access to the Microsoft points donations information, but it seems to take a really long time to get to us. The latest data we have are these donations from July 26th It says that disbursements are sent at the end of the month so I suspect the August donations will be sent soon.
Krydos
Just to give you another update, we're still waiting on the report. Here is what our charity dashboard says right now I'm guessing once this disbursement is finalized we will be able to verify the donation. For anyone else searching and reading this, we appreciate Microsoft Points donations, but it seems to take 2+ months to get to us so if you're expecting to have your account moved to another server, or storage space increased or something it will definitely be quicker to donate in some other way.

Krydos
So, we finally got the donations. The August donation of 1000 just disappeared entirely. The 5000 point donation gave us 10 cents, and the 3000 point donation gave us 5 cents for a grand total of 15 cents. I'm not sure Microsoft can claim we're getting $1 USD for each 1000 points unless they're just literally scamming people, or maybe there are some insane fees eating all of the actual donation away? $9.00 donation minus $8.85 fees? Seems bizarre. and here is the money that was actually deposited into our bank account. I'm going to go ahead and just move you to Tommy for trying, but if anyone else wants to donate Microsoft points to move servers or get increased storage space they're going to have to actually donate enough points that we get the full $1. I'm not sure how the math works out that 5000 points is 10 cents and 3000 points is 5 cents, but it looks like people would have to donate at least 60,000 Microsoft points for us to maybe get $1. Thanks for helping us test this new donation thing out.
szhiro
Thanks for the update. It's weird to see such a fee, as they said 1000points equivalent to USD1, but in overall, I think people just made an assumption, comparing it to Microsoft gift card, in which more or less 1000points =USD1. But when comes to Microsoft points donation to organization, clearly this is not the case. But anyway, glad that Helionet still received tho' a small amount of donation. Cheers. Better than nothing. Meanwhile, I learnt the lesson too.🤪 Edited Sunday at 03:05 AM by szhiro
wolstech
Oof. That fee is definitely steep if that's really how this is supposed to work, not to mention the 2+ month time for the donation to actually arrive. That's kind of sad to see as we've had several people now express interest in this method of donating. Thanks for trying though Also, just a few tips on your account: Your account now has a new IP due to the server move, so you will need to update your DNS records for your domain. Your domain was disabled, which usually means our servers cannot verify that its actually hosted with us. The most common cause is incorrect DNS records, however it looks like in your case, Cloudflare may also be blocking traffic from the USA, which will also cause it to be disabled. We do not recommend the use of CF origin certificates as they are not publicly trusted and are incompatible with several Plesk features. For best results, the recommended practice is to set Cloudflare to use "Full" SSL (not the strict version), then generate a Lets Encrypt certificate in Plesk. Krydos
I suspect each 2500 points is 5 cents, and then they round down to the nearest 5 cents. So 3000 isn't 5000, so it isn't enough to count as 10 cents so they round down from 3000 to 2500 and give us 5 cents. I guess people would probably have to donate 50,000 points for us to actually get $1.
