HelioHost Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Username: joezhou, Server: Tommy, Main domain: joezhou.helioho.stThanks. After logging in with joezhou0, I can see VPS dashboard, but I do not see how I can install VPS, e.g., ASP.NET. wolstech Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 You have to log into the actual VPS and install all of that manually. We don't install any of this for you, and our dashboard doesn't offer any tools for this. You should've received an email with instructions for logging in already as it's showing as set up. Keep in mind that you bought a Ubuntu Linux VPS...ASP.NET is a Windows technology, so you'll have a hard time using it for that. Some of the newer .NETs do run on Linux, but none of us have experience with using these on Linux and ASP.NET is meant to be hosted under IIS on a Windows server.
HelioHost Posted March 22, 2023 Author Posted March 22, 2023 Thanks for your reply. I didnot realize it is linux vps. Do you have windows vps? wolstech Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 We can install Windows for you, but we don't provide Windows licenses. A Windows VPS would come with the 120 day evaluation version of Windows Server. If it fits your needs, you'll need to purchase the appropriate Microsoft licensing from elsewhere and activate it to keep using it. If you want to switch to Windows, make a post on our forums and I'll escalate it to Krydos to have it rebuilt as a Windows box. I can't escalate an email thread due to how the email support system works.
Krydos Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Here's some instructions on how to install .NET core on Linux https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/install/linux Ubuntu is listed as a supported OS. Here is a decent article explaining the differences between .NET core and regular Windows .NET https://www.interviewbit.com/blog/net-core-vs-net-framework/ Let us know if you have any other questions.
