wolstech Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 Yeah I'm not seeing this one either...I didn't check earlier other than the ETA tool since I saw the forwarded email body in his support ticket, but looking in paypal itself, I don't see anything obvious that would belong to him. His email doesn't come up, nor does that reference number (which doesn't even look like a typical paypal txid anyway). Either he used an unsupported third party service of some kind to make the payment, or it's fake. The email itself suggests he used this website to make the payment: mercadolibre.com but I've never even heard of it, and searching that site finds no mention of us as someone who sells on there. I think he need to get his money back and re-donate directly to us.
Krydos Posted January 24, 2023 Posted January 24, 2023 PayPal uses third party payment processors for some countries. The forwarded email shows R$ 5.37 which seems to indicate Brazilian Real is the currency which converts to about $1 USD. The PayPal buttons we have say they can change depending on the country of the person viewing it, so what we see in the US might be different from what someone in Brazil would see. Since it looks like this mercadolibre.com is processing the transaction it probably just takes some extra time for it to show up in PayPal since the money has to change hands several times.

PayPal has a partnership in Brazil (and I believe some countries in LATAM) with Mercado Livre & Mercado Pago (Brazil) / Mercado Libre (Spanish speaking countries). Basically when paying with PayPal we are offered the option to pay using Mercado Livre as our payment method (i.e. as an alternative to paying with a credit card directly to PayPal or using oayment methods unavailable directly from PayPal). @santosft should have received two emails, one from Mercado Livre (forwarded email) and another directly from PayPal on which he will find the transaction ID.
