HelioHost Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Username: N/A, Server: N/A, Main Domain: N/AHello, May I ask if it is allowed to host all kinds of websites with you or you may have some restrictions regarding the content of hosted sites? -- Best regards Gregory M.
OnEnemy Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 You can find the Terms of Service here: https://wiki.helionet.org/hosting/terms
wolstech Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Sun Dark linked the TOS which explains all of it, but as long as the content isn't offensive (e.g. hate material/bullying/discrimination/similar material that most would find inappropriate or in poor taste), adult (e.g. porn, nudity, etc.), illegal (e.g. phishing, warez, malware distribution, promoting terrorism or violence, etc.), or abusive (social media marketing sites, bulk email tools or spam bots, etc.) it's usually fine.
HelioHost Posted December 9, 2022 Author Posted December 9, 2022 Hello, I would like to thank you for explanations and appreciate your time. It appears that most sites with legal content can be hosted and that means heliohost.org welcomes new clients. Correct? However when I (or any other potential client) check such sites like: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.heliohost.org https://www.whtop.com/review/heliohost.org#reviews etc... we can see some records which can be considered as thought-provoking in terms of time first of all (a kind of old records)... I would be interested in hearing your thoughts regarding that as well as share some of my thoughts regarding such things. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards Gregory M. Krydos Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Since we provide free hosting we attract a lot of criminals that want to set up phishing sites to steal password and credit cards, etc. When we suspend their websites they get mad. When they get mad they write lies in reviews about suspending them for "no reason", etc. As such our reviews tend to be rather polarizing where legitimate users give us top ratings, and people who choose to violate our terms of service give us low ratings. Also the review sites don't care whether reviews are real or not. I offered to give Trustpilot concrete evidence that one of the reviews was false, and they said they didn't care and wouldn't take the review down. I gave up trusting Trustpilot reviews at that point. If you want to join our Discord chat and ask real users that currently have an account what they think about our service I'm sure it would be much more enlightening than those review sites. https://heliohost.org/chat/ If there's a specific review you'd like to discuss, or a specific type of website that you're planning on hosting feel free to ask your question.
Kairion Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 Hello, Gregory, I hope you're doing fine. As a HelioHost user for some time (with no affiliation to HelioHost's team at all) I'd like to add my two cents: Yep, most sites with legal content are acceptable and HelioHost welcomes them. But you need to be aware that there are rules that should be complied specially (but not limited to) because it is a free host, so adult content or huge usage of server's resources for example are two things that would be a problem. About those websites, to be honest I've never heard of them, but I decided to read and to be completely honest, all I could see from those "thought-provoking" was users who misused or abused the free service they were using as they were doing a favor for HelioHost by using its services for things that wouldn't be acceptable even on paid hosts. So, to put it short, by obeying the rules we all agree when signing up to HelioHost service it's simply impossible to have any kind of problem. PS.: Please do note that even if they call us as customers or clients, we are receiving a free service provided by a NPO (Non-Profit Organization) which has no obligation to take orders from us, so we have the duty to be nice to all of them as they're all volunteers.
HelioHost Posted December 9, 2022 Author Posted December 9, 2022 Hello again, Thanks a lot for the update and all the details. Let me elaborate on my previous email though. I think that (reviews) is what most of your potential clients see while making decisions regarding heliohost.org and I think that it is worth having that improved, because people check and see what can be found in public. And only a few of them would contact You to specify details further. I have a batch of thoughts regarding that: -your website is a place where users can check "what" you provide, but not "how" service is being provided. Even if you place feedback on your own site it would not be enough for most users to make sure. So it is always useful to be active and present your services on other public sites. - within your own web site heliohost.org is a king and the best host ever, isn't it? But if you are in the public you allow others to compare with other providers "what" you provide and "how" you provide the service. - word-of-mouth is the most powerful way, and that is the key for public places. That does not work when you "canned" within your website. - public places is the way to allow other users to discover heliohost.org and learn "how" company provides services. - if you are active and new portions of fresh info appears on the public regular. That means your company is IN business and you increase credibility with the potential clients. I have been involved for a long time in such processes and activities and I DO have what to offer in that way. If you are interested - just let me know and I will get back with more details, URLs and explanations. I'm sure it is a nugget of information for your company. Best regards Gregory M.
