HelioHost Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Username: ikkk157, Server: Ricky, Main domain: afwpe.tk Hello, So i changed my subdomain=E2=80=99s (forum.afwpe.tk) path from /public_html/=forum to /public_html/forum/public But it doesn=E2=80=99t seem like the change is taking effect.=
HelioHost Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 Now im getting: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 4096 bytes) in /home/ikkk157/public_html/forum/vendor/axy/sourcemap/parsing/SegmentParser.phpon line 53
wolstech Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 The fatal error is usually a result of broken software. It's running out of memory. Odds are it's stuck in a loop of some kind and sits there gobbling up RAM until it can't get any more, then dies. I would suggest trying different forum software. Some run better than others here. As for the path issue, it appears to have finally updated since you're able to see that error message. Any time you make changes to a domain or its settings, they can take up to 2 hours to go into effect. Tommy is the only server where this doesn't apply (changes take effect in minutes over there). While they can be annoying, these delays are one of the ways we manage to make the most of our hardware. We've managed to get more than twice the number of accounts onto Ricky (~2500) than on Tommy (~1100), but it comes at the expense of waiting and slower performance. It's also worth noting that Ricky's hardware is significantly older too (by 7 years!). Tommy is fast because the hardware is newer and he has very few accounts in comparison to the other servers.
HelioHost Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 I=E2=80=99ve used this forum software on many other hosts before, and it wor=ked perfectly. For a matter of fact, it=E2=80=99s the same exact forum, I ju=st uploaded it=E2=80=99s files and db. Also, i=E2=80=99ll try to stay up tonight and maybe, just maybe, I might be a=ble to register an account on tommy.=
wolstech Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 It's worth noting that we cap our memory usage on Johnny and Ricky at levels significantly lower than other hosting companies. Many hosts have tons of RAM and allow 128MB or even 256MB, whereas we allow 32MB. This is one of the many ways we've managed to cram so many accounts onto our servers. Krydos has increased it to 128MB on Tommy I believe (for certain versions of PHP), I'm not sure whether this can be done on Ricky for performance reasons. I would suggest posting on our forums requesting a memory increase for whatever PHP version you're using so Krydos can take a look at it. The thing to watch though is that if you're consistently using a lot of RAM, you might end up suspended for high load.
HelioHost Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 That makes sense, a 32M memory limit is way too low for flarum. They themsel=ves suggest not having anything lower than 1G. However, I have had it run ju=st fine in hosts that provide much lower than that. But non were as low as 3=2M. I=E2=80=99m currently using php 7.2. How do I make a memory increase request=?=
wolstech Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 The easiest would be to make a new post on our forums here: https://www.helionet.org/index/forum/45-customer-service/ Be sure you mention your PHP version. Once we see it, I'll move it into the Escalated bin so Krydos can take a look at it (your email ticket cannot be escalated because they rely on being in a special section of our forums, if we escalate it, you'll stop getting the responses).
Krydos Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 >They themselves suggest not having anything lower than 1G. Haha, not a chance. >I'm currently using php 7.2. How do I make a memory increase request? How much memory do you think you need?
Krydos Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 32 MB is the default for a fresh install of PHP by the way. It's just no one has needed more than that yet.
HelioHost Posted December 7, 2018 Author Posted December 7, 2018 OMG I DID IT!!!!!!!! I REGISTERED AN ACCOUNT ON TOMMY!!!!! I STAYED UP AND R=EFRESHED THE HECK OUT OF MY BROWSER WHEN I SAW THAT 1 MIN WAS LEFT AND I GOT= IT!!!!! NEVER THOUGHT I=E2=80=99D DO THIS FIRST TRY!!!! (Sorry for all the caps, but as you can see, I=E2=80=99m super excited!!! I=E2==80=99m literally shaking right now)=
wolstech Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 Congrats. Now that you got that, be sure to move your stuff off of Ricky and delete the Ricky account when you get a moment: http://heliohost.org/classic/support/scripts/delete Also, unlike Ricky, the Tommy PHP 7.2 already has 128M limit on its memory, so give your forum a try and see if it works. https://krydos.heliohost.org/72/phpinfo.php
HelioHost Posted December 7, 2018 Author Posted December 7, 2018 Please delete this ricky account (ikkk157) as the deletion script returns an= error that it couldn=E2=80=99t find the account in the db. Please make sure the domain (afwpe.tk) is removed with it so i can add it to= my new tommy account (I changed the main domain to a free subdomain but I=E2==80=99m not sure if that in turn also removed afwpe.tk from this account) Thanks=
wolstech Posted December 7, 2018 Posted December 7, 2018 The account ikkk157 has been removed, and the domain afwpe.tk has been parked on Tommy account ibrahim3. Please clear your cache. If you see a "/ was not found" message, please flush your OSes DNS records as well (if a domain moves servers, it can sometimes take a few hours before all PCs can see it).
