HelioHost Posted October 19, 2017 Author Posted October 19, 2017 'browning' I just redirected the MX on NetSol to google since I can't seem to makeHeliohost reliable option in past 24 hours. I appreciate free but if itdoesn't work it doesn't mean anything. Too many issues with Johnny andcan't get on Tommy and not up for blindly paying a donation hosting fee forwhat appears to largely not work with my 8 hours I put in to Heliohost in24 hours. I can't even use Java! The whole point of testing hosted code. Bailey Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 You hace to request Java through cPanel, there would be too much load if everyone could enable Java instantly. And its a good service, Ive been hosting on many free platforms and this is, by far, the best Ive ever seen. I dont plan to change anytime in the distant future! I would quite happily host on heliohost for the rest of my website career! And it doesnt have to be a big donation, and its only a one time fee!
HelioHost Posted October 19, 2017 Author Posted October 19, 2017 Yea, I mentioned before I requested Java and it gave me an estimate for Feb 2=018, lol. Bailey Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Yeah thats because only a certain amount of people can have Java enabled so when an account goes inactive that Java ticket is freed up.
wolstech Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 You've already received a reply from one of our other members regarding your Java experience, but yes, that's accurate for Johnny. it's due to the number of user accounts on Johnny who want it, and the fact that the Johnny hardware is significantly older than the hardware hosting Tommy (the server can't handle many Java users). We are one of very few free Java hosts around, so demand is quite high. And yes, Johnny is sort of a joke in terms of performance...while we offer it so people can see the features, he's indeed nearly useless for anything practical. For comparison, our Tommy server has a wait of just a few hours for Java, and also has the ability to self-deploy WAR applications if you want (Johnny requires a root admin to do it for you). The donation required is only $1, one time (or you can try to get a free one at midnight UTC every day), and the account is good forever as long as you log in once a month. Tommy is only hard to get an account on because if we allowed more signups, it would quickly become another Johnny. If you want to forgo Java and ASP.NET support, Ricky may be fine for you. He's identical to Tommy, except no Java or ASP.NET support is offered on that server. Because we don't have Java and ASP.NET there, the server can handle more users. A Ricky account is easily obtained for free at midnight. For reference, you can see the typical performance of our servers and length of the free registration window for each server here: http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/
