Offtopic but I remember working on Windows, it was a horrible experience. Have you tried running Linux on your machine? I recommend Solus (https://solus-project.com) which is a x86_64-only Linux desktop OS, it comes as a live CD so you can try it out before you install. Linux is great! Also, @Krydos you should try out solus

Krydos said before that a wiki update was a low priority at the time.

For anyone else, this is the previous talk page of `w/HelioHost: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/HelioHost As a note to everyone: general heliohost reviews (Like mine: https://freevps.us/thread-21109.html) are great sources but we need (more?) news related to only certain events of the heliohost history page.

Does this mean that Ricky would technically be better than Tommy for hosting PHP/Perl sites, because it doesn't have the features enabled?

The point of this post is that the wikipedia page HelioHost doesn't exist and if anyone is willing and experienced in writing wikipedia articles we would greatly appreciate them writing an article about us. We've been in business since 2005 providing free webhosting and as far as we know we're the only 501c3 non-profit webhosting orginization in the world. The wikipedia trolls didn't argue with us being notable. Our article just had too much information, and most of that information was from internal sources like interviews with the founder. We've had thousands of reviews written about us over the years, both good and bad. Academic thesis papers have been written about us. There's a book that has a whole chapter about us. The sources are out there, but the wikipedia folks want someone other than me to write it. Can you provide the original draft?, it will be better than writing from scratch. Also, it will be nice to create a page on our wiki's sandbox with the draft so that we can collaborate there. And also links to the things you mentioned (if they are not linked in the draft.)

I'll start working on a draft for this, I'll push both on Monday or next weekend, hopefully

Which python version?

Nothing. Referencing domain names from helionet is not malicious, and in fact increases SEO by backlinking. If helionet results are on top then, your site's SEO is _really_ bad, please improve that.

error logs are in error_logs files You need the reference the https files in ~/ssl

v1.0 doesn't do a good job at moderating bots since (most) bot can read/understand the images. v2 is great (in my experience) and the administration should consider moving to it asap.

I noticed, but shouldn't it be better to upgrade to a LTS version, for the security fixes if nothing else? Also it would probably be easy to revert the changes from a backup. It's nice to give back to the community P.S: Can I have the link to post you mentioned? I can't seem to find it

It appears to be that the <ref></ref> tags are not working on the wiki, do I need to manually add footnotes? (which seems like too much work ) Or am I doing something wrong. To provide context, I was creating a wiki page for setting up flask based on the forum post by Krydos which I wanted to add a footnote to the original post. Link: http://wiki.helionet.org/Flask

You can find the option to change domains in the control panel after you login into https://HelioHost.org [br /] There is a whole story behind this, haha
-
@baileyjm yes, I do believe the it is supported on Tommy.

@damnu a script in perl/PHP/python will be more secure than anything that mono emulates You can you the script mentioned above to write the mail to a file that you can then process with your asp.net files (or whatever) which can be called externally with a service like https://cron-job.org I believe the admins offer a similar service to call a script externally.

[Solved] Enable Ns Records In The Advanced Dns Editor
miwilc replied to miwilc's topic in Escalated Requests
No, I want to create NS records to point to my VPS so that I can create/delete/modify a couple of resource intensive test programs that require their own subdomains to run. It doesn't make sense to host the A/AAAA records (although I am using it like this now) on Helio, since I would be needing to change (subdomain) names frequently and be sending high (test) traffic on it. It would be nice to setup the NS records but I could survive without it, I guess -
[Solved] Enable Ns Records In The Advanced Dns Editor
miwilc replied to miwilc's topic in Escalated Requests
You misunderstood, I want to be able to set NS records for a _subdomain_ of miwilc.me not the root domain itself. Is this possible? -
The Tommy server has gone offline, I got a email from the WordPress checker and uptime robot telling me the site is down. It is also reflected here: http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/ My site for reference: https://miwilc.me Apprently the server came up as soon as I posted... Haha.

1) Take a backup of your Johnny account, delete your account. 1.5) Use https://heliohost.org/tommy/ to get a invite to Tommy 2) Both servers support PHP. 3) Tommy. 4) All servers are hosted in a HE Colocation center in US, California, I believe.

There are really nice GUIs for ftp on PC and Android now, your server name is <your server>.heliohost.org Your login name is: your cPanel username Your password is: your cPanel password. The port is the default FTP port. The best was to upload is with the cPanel file manager, you can upload your site as a archive and extract it in the file manager
-
Apprently NS records don't show up as a option in the advanced DNS Zone editor, can this be enabled so that I can add NS records? Username: miwilc Domain: miwilc.me Server: Tommy
-
I know that, won't the PHP port be easier to implement and maintain?
-
If your using WordPress, you can turn off recommendations in settings. Otherwise please provide your cPanel username, main domain and the server your on, so that the staff can look into it. Heliohost does not force ads, it's more likely misconfiguration on your end.

the firewall only allows connections on the outward facing ports @wolstech discribed, (for a website only port 80 and 443 matter), the software API you require already has a PHP port: https://github.com/davidkevork/steemphp I'm not sure what you mean by "can't configure their API", you going to need to elaborate.
