    No it's not needed. What is needed to keep your account active is to make sure you login to your cpanel a couple of times a month.

    You don't actually have to recieve the confirmation email for your site to work. Can you please post your domain name.

    Can you post what you have in your htaccess file? Or if your not using it for anything right now then delete the file or delete what's in it and see what happens. Sometimes Latest Visitors dosn't update right away.
