[Solved] VPS Subscription Renewal (and Morty Account top up)
Krydos replied to msbsurfi's topic in Escalated Requests
I tested the download speed of your VPS and found it to be about 93.1 MB/s: root@vps112:~# wget https://heliohost.org/speedtest/100MB.bin --2025-08-19 00:26:03-- https://heliohost.org/speedtest/100MB.bin Resolving heliohost.org (heliohost.org)... 65.19.141.66 Connecting to heliohost.org (heliohost.org)|65.19.141.66|:443... connected. HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK Length: 104857600 (100M) [application/octet-stream] Saving to: ‘100MB.bin’ 100MB.bin 100%[====================================================================================================>] 100.00M 93.1MB/s in 1.1s 2025-08-19 00:26:04 (93.1 MB/s) - ‘100MB.bin’ saved [104857600/104857600] I also tested the speed of Morty, which is on a faster hard drive array, which is slightly faster at 104 MB/s: root@morty [~]# wget https://heliohost.org/speedtest/100MB.bin --2025-08-18 18:27:39-- https://heliohost.org/speedtest/100MB.bin Resolving heliohost.org (heliohost.org)... 65.19.141.66 Connecting to heliohost.org (heliohost.org)|65.19.141.66|:443... connected. HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK Length: 104857600 (100M) [application/octet-stream] Saving to: ‘100MB.bin’ 100MB.bin 100%[====================================================================================================>] 100.00M 104MB/s in 1.0s 2025-08-18 18:27:40 (104 MB/s) - ‘100MB.bin’ saved [104857600/104857600] The difference in speed only makes 100 MB download take a tenth of a second longer though. I wouldn't say that 93.1 MB/s is annoyingly slow though. Seems pretty fast to me. -
[Solved] Why was my account deactivated?
wolstech replied to giampity's topic in Suspended and Queued Accounts
We've blocked the IP in question, updated your email address, and unsuspended you. Please remove whatever telegram is connecting to, as it's either broken or too heavy to run on Johnny. If you want to continue hosting that here, you'll need a VPS for it. - Today

Curious what Krydos says about this, but it seems like this would basically be the digital equivalent of mailing us a gift card and telling us redeem the GC as payment since an actual payment can't be processed... Question for you: If you buy one of these cards, are you able to load it into your Paypal account then send the paypal balance via email address? I know our site doesn't let you use paypal balance as a payment method, but Paypal's own website used to let you do this by entering an email address. If that option still exists you can enter admin@heliohost.org as the recipient and it should come to us.

giampity replied to giampity's topic in Suspended and Queued Accounts
That route was associated with Telegram (probably that IP will belong to their servers), I didn't even know that it involved all this traffic. The email address isn't temporary in the sense that it still exists and I can access it. However, I can provide one from an official provider: loremipsum84@yahoo.com -
You should be using johnny.heliohost.org as the database server hostname. Also, the error you're getting makes me think you have the DB settings wrong somewhere else in your code, as it's mentioning 'lsvcam_webcamLSVdbUser'@'www640.your-server.de' If this were set up correctly on your end, that bold part should be showing johnny.heliohost.org.

[Solved] Why was my account deactivated?
wolstech replied to giampity's topic in Suspended and Queued Accounts
It's suspended for both excessive traffic that caused an outage on Johnny, and for using as temporary email address: Can you explain what this traffic was, and provide a real email address for your account? -
I wanted to ask why my account hosting cdnapp.helioho.st was deactivated. I don't know what terms I violated, and if I did so unintentionally, I'm sorry.

This support request is being escalated for the attention of our root admins who handle the PayPal account. Thank you for the suggestion. 🙂

[Solved] VPS Subscription Renewal (and Morty Account top up)
msbsurfi replied to msbsurfi's topic in Escalated Requests
Hello, I would like to review the Tommy (Previously used), Morty and VPS. I have no problem with Morty. But the speed of connection of VPS is sometimes annoying. I think the internet speed of the virtual server fluctuates (10Mbps or more to 100 kbps), I have tested that my connection is ok and can download/upload more MBs than the download speed from sites hosted in the VPS. Even when I was downloading the files, the other sites load much slowly. Is there any option to enhance the upload/download speed of the VPS. Or does storage type (SSD/HDD) causes slow transfer? I know it is a good practice to keep downloadable files in CDN buckets, but we don't want to take the hassle, and as we have enough storage in the server, we'd like to keep those files in the server. Is there any way to keep the speed constant? Regards, MD Shifat Bin Siddique -

Thanks, I already set this option to "Allow remote connections from any host" and also tried "Allow remote connections from". Both did not work. I still get the error message: Code: $conn = new mysqli( "lsvcam.heliohost.us", "lsvcam_webcamLSVdbUser", "xxxxxx", "lsvcam_webcamData" ); if ($conn->connect_error) { die("❌ Verbindung fehlgeschlagen: " . $conn->connect_error); } else { echo "✅ Verbindung erfolgreich hergestellt!<br>"; }v In Plesk, my Database server is: Database server localhost:3306 (default for MariaDB, v10.5.27) Can I change that to "lsvcam.heliohost.us"?

Hello, I'm writing to propose a new payment method for HelioHost that would work in countries where direct PayPal and traditional card payments via PayPal are restricted. I have found that in my country, it is possible to purchase a PayPal balance card using a Visa or Mastercard. The recipient can then use this card to top up their PayPal balance. This method requires the recipient's PayPal account number or the email address associated with the account. I suggest that HelioHost accept this as a new payment method. Here is how it would work: A customer would be able to see HelioHost's PayPal account email or ID on a visible page. The customer would then purchase a PayPal balance card for the desired amount and provide it to HelioHost. HelioHost would then use the card to top up its PayPal account. Upon successful top-up, HelioHost would confirm payment completion. I believe this method would be a valuable option for customers in regions with payment limitations. Thank you for your consideration.

Both SMTPmart and Brevo are good options, but they serve slightly different needs. SMTPmart is focused more on bulk email sending and is known for its simplicity and good delivery rates. Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) offers a full marketing platform with more features like automation and analytics, but it can be a bit complex for beginners.

Johnny doesn't support PostGIS because he's too old. Same with Tommy. Right now only Morty and VPS plans support PostGIS. If you'd like to make sure Morty can do what you need we can give you a week trial, and if everything works the way you want you can make a payment to stay on that server. We will be upgrading Tommy and Johnny to support PostGIS too, but it may be a few months out still.

[Krydos] error - CREATE EXTENSION postgis
wolstech replied to camilogeo's topic in Escalated Requests
Creating the postgis extension is not something you can do yourself. Krydos has to do this for you. What is the name of the database that needs this extension? -
And to give a more thorough idea of just how dumb this was, your actions caused nearly 3000 other websites across 988 other users to experience an outage.
-
Yep, that was pretty dumb.

I was testing how many users my website could handle using Locust. I set it to reach 10.000 users, since I didn't know what should be the max, and I thought 10k was small enough. Ran the test, got some errors, so I just closed the tab. I didn't know testing could do something this bad...

Odds are you’re probably sharing a network or a computer with someone else who has an account. Either way, since the other account is still suspended and we haven’t heard from the other user, you’ve been unsuspended. it may take a few minutes to work again.
-
Yeah, I'm curious what you have to say about this too.
