HelioHost Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 Username: gmpintus, Server: Tommy, Main domain: gmpintus.helioho.stHi, I'm planning to host a language course on Mars VPS, I read the news about the new terms of use and I would like to know if it's ok to have videos on my course or goes against the rules. The site will have a payment system integrated too. Thanks --
Krydos Posted June 10, 2025 Posted June 10, 2025 No, videos are fine, as long as you made them. The terms of service are referring to streaming TV like HBO and streaming movies The Matrix.
wolstech Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 To elaborate on this change a bit more, the reason for this update is that we had a substantial number of users who were trying to host pirate TV viewing websites ("IPTV"), which are illegal here in the USA where we're based. This change is intended to more clearly ban those sites, as we often received pushback when we simply said "copyright infringement" as the reason for their ban (users would say things like "oh but the content is free/over the air so its fine", and "piracy is the norm where I am, so it should be fine"). We hope users planning to run one of these illegal IPTV streaming websites will see the direct mention of them being banned and just not bother. As already mentioned, this new rule is NOT meant to ban video content that you produce, or content that is available via a service and/or license that's meant for sharing, like embedded Youtube videos. This sort of content is still welcome.
