HelioHost Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 Username: hconsult, Server: Tommy, Main domain: hconsult.helioho.st Hi, I am a new user ( hconsult ) I have a .org domain registered through uk2.net and am wondering if I can point a subdomain of that to hconsult.helioho.st Is that allowed? I note the IP address 65.19.154.90 but am not sure if that is all I put into the A record in UK2 or whether I need to add other details such as hconsult? It also doesn't look like I can configure this myself in plesk so do I need to request something from you? If so what? Thanks, James -- James Savage
KazVee Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 Since you've already pointed your A record with UK2 to the IP address for your server, the only step needed is for an admin to add the domain to your account for you. Please let us know the full domain you want added, and we can make the changes for you. Once we've added the custom domain, you will see another folder inside Plesk, parallel to your existing httpdocs folder (which is for your current main domain), with the same name as your .org domain. Then, the files for your hconsult.helioho.st website would still go into httpdocs, and the files for the domain you got from UK2 would go into the .org folder. If you would prefer to have your custom domain as your new main domain, and get rid of hconsult.helioho.st, you could do that if you prefer. You can have up to 10 domains/subdomains on your account so just adding the custom one for you is no problem at all if you want to use both the helioho.st one and the .org one. You can read more details on adding custom subdomains on our Wiki here: https://wiki.helionet.org/Subdomains
hconsult Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 (edited) Thank you. Yes the A record in place on UK2.net says: Name: test.channelsailing.org | Type: A | Data: 65.19.154.90 So yes please, could you add test.channelsailing.org as a custom domain along-side hconsult.helioho.st Many thanks, James Edited March 10, 2025 by hconsult
KazVee Posted March 10, 2025 Posted March 10, 2025 I've added that domain to your account for you. Please note that it may take up to 2 hours for the domain change to take effect. Since you've already set up your DNS, if after a full 2 hours the new domain doesn't work on your side, please make sure you clear your web browser cache: https://wiki.helionet.org/Clear_Your_Cache
