HelioHost Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Username: dagriffpatchfan, Server: Johnny, Main domain: dagriffpatchfanhosting.helioho.stCan I get a tommy account for donating with bing? I have lots of points and a tommy account means more to me than any of the dumb prizes microsoft offers.
Krydos Posted January 14, 2025 Posted January 14, 2025 Back in August last year someone donated 1000 points, 3000 points, and 5000 points to us to see what would happen. Another person donated 1000 points. That should be $10 of donations according to Microsoft. So far we have gotten $8 of the $10 just a few weeks ago. The other problem is we have no way of knowing who sent what donation because Microsoft just lumps it all together and sends it to us without even a date that it was sent. There has probably been a few people donate without even telling us about it. You're welcome to donate if you want to donate, but it will likely take 4-6 months to verify before we can move you to Tommy, and even if we do get a $1 in 6 months there is no way to know if it's your $1 or someone else's $1. So if 2 people claim to have donated $1 and we only receive $1 we have no way of knowing who lied to us and who actually donated. I totally agree with you though, Microsoft points are pretty worthless, so I would just donate them myself if I had any.
HelioHost Posted January 14, 2025 Author Posted January 14, 2025 If I screen record myself would that be proof? Krydos Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 Sure, we would still need to wait 4-6 months for the money to arrive, but if someone else tries to claim your donation we would know they were lying.
Krydos Posted January 15, 2025 Posted January 15, 2025 We would be able to move your Johnny account to Tommy for you in 4-6 months once the money is in our bank account. If you go to https://heliohost.org/dashboard/move/ and use PayPal to donate your account will start moving to Tommy instantly. Either way we appreciate the donation.

HelioHost Posted January 17, 2025 Author Posted January 17, 2025 Username: dagriffpatchfan, Server: Johnny, Main domain: dagriffpatchfanhosting.helioho.stDon?t you already own the servers? Or do you have to pay for each new user? Just asking, like I said before In not Mad or anything, just curious On Thursday, January 16, 2025, HelioHost Support wrote: > We can't spend money that hasn't arrived yet. > > You may view the status of your ticket by visiting: > > https://helionet.org/index/index.php?showtopic=63335 > > Thank you, > HelioHost support > https://heliohost.org/ > https://helionet.org/ > >
MoneyBroz Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 Yes we own our own hardware in our own datacenter cabinet that we rent from Hurricane Electric in California.
HelioHost Posted January 17, 2025 Author Posted January 17, 2025 Username: dagriffpatchfan, Server: Johnny, Main domain: dagriffpatchfanhosting.helioho.stIn that case, why do you need to spend the money? wolstech Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 Because we have ongoing operational costs to pay, such as the datacenter rent. We own the servers, but not the rack or building they're in. We rent the rack space from Hurricane Electric. There's also other recurring costs of doing business, like license fees for Softaculous and the forum, government fees, IP address rentals, etc. In addition, we don't want to worry about "what if the money never shows up" down the line. What you're asking us to do is equivalent to ordering physical goods online and telling the seller "Oh, it takes a long time for my money to get there, send me the item now but you won't get paid for 4-6 months, if at all, and if you do it might be less than expected". I doubt most sellers would agree to those terms, and I know that HelioHost sure won't. TL;DR: Good business practice and we got to keep the lights on somehow...
Krydos Posted January 17, 2025 Posted January 17, 2025 I find it kind of amazing that you can't even grasp the concept of internet connections and electricity costing money. There are a lot of other bills to pay too, but I don't know how you expect a server to work without at least being able to connect to the internet, and without even being able to power on.
