[Solved] No (sub)domain options for my account?

Recommended Posts

I signed up for a Tommy account on HelioHost with 2,000 MB of storage (user name 'ronvdc'). I'd like to add domains and subdomains to my main account. According to the Plesk help content, there should be buttons on the Websites & Domains page that allow you to do that, but I don't see those options in my Plesk interface. Does my Tommy account not permit domains and subdomains? If that's the case, can I move to a different account type that does allow that?

Thanks!

What I would actually like to do is use folders in my space and use those as roots for my websites, so:

my-site-1.com   >>   my-account.helioho.st/my-site-1/
my-site-2.com   >>   my-account.helioho.st/my-site-2/
etc.

Is that possible? What's the best way to accomplish that?
(I know I need to point my domains to the HelioHost nameservers: ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org.)

Thanks!

Users cannot yet manage their own subdomains on the shared hosting servers. This functonality is planned, but there is no timescale for when it will be implemented because all HelioHost staff are volunteers who work on the service when they have free time. You can read a little more about ETAs here: https://wiki.helionet.org/hosting/repair-times

In the meantime, staff can add sudomains for you. You can read the full details of add-on/subdomain management here (https://wiki.helionet.org/management/parked-addon-and-sub-domains) but the TL;DR is: let us know which subdomains you want added and we can add those for you. 🙂

If domain/subdomain management is really something you want to manage yourself immediately, you could look into our paid VPS plans: https://heliohost.org/vps/ and manage your own DNS from there. (If you wanted to buy your own domain, we recommend using Namecheap since we have an affiliate partnership with them: https://wiki.helionet.org/hosting/what-heliohost-is-not#namecheap)

Thanks for the quick response, KazVee! Much appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken, what I want to accomplish (see above) requires addon domains and not subdomains. I want to point a domain that I already own (say, my-domain.com) to a folder on HelioHost. If I understand the documentation correctly, that would be my-account.helioho.st/my-domain.helioho.st/. Then, after modifying the nameservers for my-domain.com, you should see whatever is in the my-account.helioho.st/my-domain.helioho.st/ folder. If that's correct, can you please add these addon domains to my account (ronvdc):

  • ronvdc
  • rvdc
  • dutchoutpost
  • biljum
  • tiffanybiljumtherapy
  • adventuresintech

Or is there a way to accomplish what I want by simply putting the content for each site in subfolders on HelioHost (so, for example, ronvdc.helioho.st/dutchoutpost) and then updating the nameservers for dutchoutpost.com to open the contents of that folder?

Thanks!

Unfortunately your last idea of making folders and pointing nameservers to the specific folder won't work.

In the example screenshot, I have `domain.helioho.st` as my main domain, and I added site-A.com and site-B.com domains that I own. So the contents of the `httpdocs` folder is what I want to display at `domain.helioho.st`, and the files for my other 2 websites go in their respective folders.

We need to know the complete domain name in order to add a domain to an account. Do the 6 domains you want added all end with `.com`?
