HelioHost Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 (edited) VPS number: 69, VPS ID: 342 Could I create a subdomain on my PLESK named erp.poulininc.ca and have it point to the VPS Luc Poulin > On Nov 20, 2022, at 11:29 PM, HelioHost Support wrote: > > > > Hey Lucp, > > Please find details of the VPS below: > > Username: > Password: > IPv4: > IPv6: > SSH Port: 22 > Memory: 2 GB > CPUs: 2 > HD: 100 GB > OS: Ubuntu22 > Domain: vps69.heliohost.us > > If you want to run something as root, use "sudo " to run a single command or "sudo su" to switch to root using your password. > > All of the latest updates are done and everything should be good to go. Let us know if you'd like another free something.heliohost.us domain pointed at your VPS. You can host any domain you want by setting the domain's A record to the ipv4 listed above, and optionally an AAAA record for the ipv6. > > If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. wolstech Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 You wouldn't create it as a domain in Plesk since Plesk isn't going to host it. What you need is an A record added for the erp subdomain that's pointed to the VPS. It's definitely possible, but Krydos has to do this since you're using our name servers and user DNS editing isn't finished yet.
HelioHost Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Can it be sent to them then Luc Poulin > On Nov 21, 2022, at 9:00 AM, HelioHost Support wrote: > > You wouldn't create it as a domain in Plesk since Plesk isn't going to host it. wolstech Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 I can't really escalate this because its an email thread (if I move email threads to the Escalated section, it breaks the email functionality and you won't get our replies anymore). Krydos usually reads the email threads though, so he should see this sometime today or tonight and respond. If he does not, post the request on our forums and I can escalate that topic instead. Also, if you use external DNS instead of ours, you can manage this yourself. Many of our users prefer Cloudflare for their DNS just for this reason. Since you have a working domain already, CF should be able to copy the DNS settings if you wanted to set that up. After that, you could just add an A record for that subdomain pointed to your VPS IP, configure the VPS to serve a website for that domain, and set up whatever content you want on it.
HelioHost Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Did realize that was an option what do I need todo on my end to set it up? *Luc Poulin* On Mon, Nov 21, 2022 at 9:09 AM HelioHost Support wrote: > I can't really escalate this because its an email thread (if I move email > threads to the Escalated section, it breaks the email functionality and you > won't get our replies anymore). Krydos Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 There you go https://dnschecker.org/#A/erp.poulininc.ca If you want to switch to Cloudflare so you can edit your own DNS records go to cloudflare.com, create a free account, log in to your registrar's website, set your NS records to whatever Cloudflare says to -- it will be two names like helga.ns.cloudflare.com and bob.ns.cloudflare.com, but those are just examples, use the ones that Cloudflare actually assigns to you -- then create the A record through Cloudflare's UI. If you do switch to Cloudflare we won't really be able to provide support for their system since we won't have access to even look at it to see if it's right. If you don't want to have to contact Cloudflare support, which may or may not even exist on the free accounts, it's not a problem to continue using ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org. I don't mind creating the DNS records for you.
HelioHost Posted November 21, 2022 Author Posted November 21, 2022 Yeah I do like the support could you create the records? Krydos Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 The www CNAME for your domain already exists https://dnschecker.org/#CNAME/www.poulininc.ca Is there a different CNAME you need set up? The URL you linked to only mentions the www CNAME.
Krydos Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Since the www.poulininc.ca CNAME points to Plesk still I created www.erp.poulininc.ca for you that points to your VPS. I think that might be what you need.
