wolstech Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 @Krydos: Johnny's Apache has been down for almost a day and will not restart. Any idea what happened? The rest of the server seems to be working though (cPanel, mail, and FTP are up...).
Sn1F3rt Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 @Krydos: What? A DDoS attack. On the HelioServer Johnny. You're kidding me! If I amnt wrong, this had happened before here in HelioHost. Most probably it's in the news forum. Last month I was digging deep into that and there I saw an announcement of a DDoS attack by Ashoat.
Guest snowm Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 Ddos attack.WHAT?!!! OMG! Now thats bad.Good thing I moved back to Ricky. Does this mean I have to change my password?!
Luigi123 Posted September 7, 2019 Posted September 7, 2019 No it’s not mean you should change your password. It’s something else.
wolstech Posted September 7, 2019 Author Posted September 7, 2019 Nope. This is actually a fairly common occurrence here, usually a few times a year at least. More often than not, it’s retaliation for us banning abuse of some form (phishing or botnet typically).
Sn1F3rt Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 Seems everything's alright now. Just check and confirm please.
wolstech Posted September 9, 2019 Author Posted September 9, 2019 The DoS attack has sort of subsided. I'm still seeing tons of IPs getting blocked in the firewall, but it's not completely overwhelming the server now at least...
