HelioHost is going to buy a new server named Sparkie!

https://www.gofundme.com/sparkie-server

- Anyone who donates $5 or more will have their shared hosting account storage doubled to 2000 MB.

- If you donated during our last fundraiser and already have 2000 MB, another $5 or more donation will increase your storage to 3000 MB.

- Whoever donates the largest amount will win a beast of a VPS for six months with 16 GB memory, 8 cpus, 300 GB hard drive space, unlimited bandwidth, a dedicated IPv4 address, and your choice of operating system. That's a $318 value!

Our servers are getting pretty old and slow so it's time to buy something newer and faster. The server we will be buying has 128 GB memory, and dual xeon processors with a total of 16 cpu cores. This will give us plenty of speed and room to expand our services in the future. We will install our new server, that we're going to name Sparkie, in our cabinet within a professional data center located in the heart of Silicon Valley.

Unfortunately, HelioHost has been losing money for the last few years. We still have enough money in our accounts to last for several more years so you don't need to worry about us shutting down tomorrow, but losing money every year like this isn't sustainable. We've made huge strides over the last few months to reduce our bills. Our projected yearly operating cost is down a whopping 18.87% over last year. We are also now earning 7.57% of our operating costs in the form of VPS sales, and we hope to be able to increase that further as we sell even more VPSes. The rest of our funding comes from ad revenue and donations.

Here's what our finances look like for 2018:

As you can see we lost $1839 in 2018. If we fully finance this fundraiser, not only will be be able to buy our new server, but we'll break even for 2018. Our goal of $2750 includes our 2018 deficit, the cost of the server, the rails, cables, and expected GoFundMe fees. With the addition of Sparkie to our server lineup we will be able to provide free hosting to even more users, and be able to sell even more VPSes. We believe this will allow us to stay afloat for many years to come.

Thanks!

The plan is to use it as a new home for Johnny when he gets rebuilt again, so yes. The old Johnny hardware will be used to rebuild Ricky. Tommy will get rebuilt in place (stay where he is). We don't know what the old Ricky hardware (Stevie) will be used for yet, probably either this forum and our website, or VPSes.

Now, all of it's subject to change, but this is the early concept of what we plan to do.

Probably nothing new in terms of features (except the stuff added in newer cP builds). Everything will be updated if rebuilt though. There's no way to install old versions of cPanel.

Newer cPanel build is fine by me!

Also, I don't mind the ads but can you make them responsive? It breaks the page on mobile.

Which ads? The monthly progress bar in cpanel?

Yes, that too. Some of the ads are fine but some of them aren't responsive.

So Tommy Will be rebuilt and will it get new or upgraded features?

The next feature I plan on adding to Tommy would be node.js. After this fundraiser is finished I might have some more time to work on that.
