[HH#454789] External DNS entry.

Hello !

My name is Leonardo Roman, and I've an account, where I'd like to add a domain

(leoroman.com.ar) .

 

I've this domain's DNS hosted at "FreeDNS", and I need to have it there while I'm using

some features like Dynamic DNS records.

 

When I try to add this domain to HelioHost, it returns me this error message:

"(XID jtzuuz) Sorry, the domain is already pointed to an IP address that does not appear to

use DNS servers associated with this server. Please transfer the domain to this servers

nameservers or have your administrator add one of its nameservers to /etc/ips.remotedns

and make the proper A entries on that remote nameserver."

 

I have created this file, with 1 ip per line of the NS from freedns.afraid.org ; and pointed A

record of leoroman.com.ar to the assigned shared IP (64.62.211.134) ... But I already have

this error message.

 

Could you please help me with it ?

 

PS: In addition, It could be great if I could use GIT and/or SSH. Could I enable it anywhere ?

You have to set your nameservers to ns1.heliohost.org and ns2.heliohost.org in order to add a domain to cpanel. This is required as proof that you own the domain. Once the domain is working on our nameservers you're welcome to switch back to some other DNS service if you want, but it may break certain features if you're not using our nameservers. Git and SSH are not available on a free shared hosting account because ssh is a security risk on a multi-user system. If you would like to have ssh access and git we recommend taking a look at a vps instead https://www.heliohost.org/vps/

You can add nameservers individually on FreeDNS. It was restricted for me so I had to contact the administrator. Other than that, it works.

Afraid.org is one of a few that are known to be troublesome with our service. As another user mentioned in a previous reply, you sometimes have to contact them to get it to work.

 

If that's not an option or they can't help, the only other recommendation is to either use it as your main domain (which will let the A record work, but breaks a lot of functionality on our side), or get your domain from elsewhere.
