[Hh#87928] Cpanel On Johnny Connection Problem : "site Cannot Be Reached" Error At Johnny.heliohost.org

Hello,

I have just joined Heliohost and would like to start adding content to my

website space. However, when I log in to Heliohost, and then click on the

buton "continue to Cpanel", I get an error in my browser as if the

connection timed out:

"This site can't be reached

johnny.heliohost.org took too long to respond."

It was working on the first day of connection shortly after the account was

origninally set up. I would be grateful to learn whether there are any

problems regarding my account.

Best regards,

leon

You're on Johnny. Johnny is meant for experiments and testing, not production websites. We allow unlimited accounts and don't manage resources as tightly on Johnny, but this means the server also regularly gets overloaded and suffers from poor uptime. Johnny is currently experiencing high load, which is why that's timing out for you. You can see the performance of our various servers here: http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/

If you need a reliable server with good uptime, we recommend moving to Ricky or Tommy.

Does the insecure button at the bottom of the heliohost tools page work for you? If the continue to cpanel button results in a time out it could also be that you have port 2083 blocked. We provide the insecure button for people who can't connect using the other button because it uses port 80 which is open for everyone.

thank you for your fast replies. I understand that the Johnny server is

intended for testing and is indeed how I had planned to use it (a few

python tests for educational purposes to be exact)

I think the connection problems I am encoutering are purely due to the

server being overloaded. The insecure connection currently results in a 404

error for the URL http://cpanel.johnny.heliohost.org/login/ Similarly,

attempting a cpanel connection results in a "site cannot be reached" error

on https://johnny.heliohost.org:2083/login/

I will keep trying to connect for the next couple of days and delete my

account if unsuccessful.

Kind regards,

L

The Port 80 access is not currently available on Johnny for some reason. I get the same 404 error when using the Insecure Login button. I'll escalate this issue to a root admin to see why, as while poor performance is expected on Johnny, a 404 error is not. The second one is working fine for me right now, but yes, it regularly fails to respond as a consequence of overloading or due to client networks that block port 2083.

If you would prefer an account on a server that performs properly, I would recommend Ricky when signups open at midnight UTC. He's easy to get an account on compared to Tommy (registrations are typically open for several hours compared to a few minutes), and is significantly faster too. Python is available on all of our servers, so your code would happily run there, and if additional versions or modules are needed, we can install them for you.
