Hi,

I have had the domain thevoidpigeon.heliohost.org for some years. Recently, it has not been accessible and I have not been able to access cPanel. Can you help me regain access to my account and my data?

Your account was located on Stevie which crashed due to hard drive failure back on November 30th. http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/26915-hard-drive-failed/ As the news posts explain we backed up as much data as we could, and you can download it at https://www.heliohost.org/backup/ Once you have your backup downloaded you can create a new account on Tommy https://www.heliohost.org/signup/ Free signups reset at midnight UTC and fill up fairly quickly. If you want to donate to help Heliohost stay operational we will send you a special thank you gift with an invitation link that allows you to create an account whenever you want even if the server is full. Then choose thevoidpigeon.heliohost.org as your domain and once your account is created you can upload your backup that you downloaded. Let us know if you need any help with anything.

Thank you for your reply. I tried retrieving the backup with username=jbarma and email=theevileel@gmail.com, but it said the backup could not be found and an administrator would need to manually create a backup. I would consider donating since Heliohost has been very convenient for me, but I do not want to if there is no evidence of technical stability.

There is no account in the backup system with that username or that email address. If it was inactive or suspended at the time of the failure, it likely wasn't backed up (we only backed up active accounts, most recently used first, until the space we had available was full). In addition, we also had numerous accounts that were simply too corrupt to recover. At this point, we're no longer offering manual backups for Stevie since we can no longer read any meaningful data from the server.

As for stability, it's worth noting that Stevie gave us nearly 8 years of solid performance with no major repairs, which is an extremely long time for a single server. We acquired our new Eddie server last year, and expect the same performance from him that we saw from Stevie.

The reason the backup can't be found is because that username and email address don't match the account that had the domain thevoidpigeon.heliohost.org. The username was thevoid, and the email address was t***********n@gmail.com.
