opieantc Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Hi. I tried to make a new account since my old one on Stevie is gone. The info from Stevie was: [details removed] I did a sign-up request last night, but didn't receive an e-mail, so I tried again a short while ago. The second time the system reported that I had already tried to sign up. An option was given to send the validation e-mail again, so I chose that, but nothing is showing up. I also requested whatever was backed up from Stevie, but I also didn't receive an e-mail for that. Nothing is getting caught by a spam filter. I checked that right away. I tried doing a password reset on HelioNet and e-mails from that server arrived very quickly. It's just messages from HelioHost that aren't getting through. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thank you
Byron Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 What email provider are you using? You can go here to retrieve your backup: https://www.heliohost.org/backup/
opieantc Posted January 26, 2017 Author Posted January 26, 2017 What email provider are you using? You can go here to retrieve your backup: https://www.heliohost.org/backup/ Hi. Thank you for responding so quickly. The e-mail provider is GMX. The address is the same one used for registration on this forum. When I said "I also requested whatever was backed up from Stevie" that was done using the URL you provided. Just like with the sign-up request, no e-mail arrives after a backup request is submitted.
Byron Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I just sent an email to you from my account on heliohost. Let me know if you get it.
Krydos Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 You'll probably need to contact GMX support and ask them why your emails aren't going to your inbox. The emails from Heliohost are fully authenticated in every way with spf, dkim, dmarc and everything else. There really isn't any reason why any mail provider would refuse emails from us. If GMX lets us know what they think is wrong with our emails I'd be happy to comply though. Would you rather us send the backup link and the email validation link manually to you or would you rather use another email address?

A whitelist entry has been added, but that doesn't explain why the other e-mails didn't show up in any form. Hmm...
Krydos Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 You can try whitelisting no-reply@heliohost.org if you want. That's where the backup and the signup emails come from.

Even stranger that the test e-mail from Byron arrived, so they're not blocking heliohost.org altogether. Whitelisting the domain seems to make no difference. I just tried another backup link request, but that didn't work. If you can send a PM with the backup link and sign-up e-mail validation info that would be great. I'll try to sort out the e-mail situation later with GMX if I can. Also, if my ID on the forum can be changed back to not having a 2 at the end that would be great too. I'm guessing there was a reason for that. Thank you very much.
Krydos Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Yes, GMX is being very odd. I tested some emails to my gmx.com account and it looks like if the email is properly signed with a valid dkim signature they refuse the email... PM sent with both links. The reason your forum username has a 2 is because you won't be able to create an account named opieantc again if it's already taken. Once your account is created let us know and we can remove the 2.

Thank you very much. I need to go for now, so I'll make a donation for an invite some time tomorrow. Thank you again.

I sent a donation anyway since I really ought to give HelioHost something after several years. If my name can be fixed on the forum that should get things pretty much back to normal. Thanks again for your help Byron and Krydos.
wolstech Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I renamed you back. Let us know if you need help with anything else.

Krydos Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 In case you're interested, the reason why our emails weren't ending up in your inbox has been discovered and fixed. See http://www.helionet.org/index/topic/27500-gmxcom-email/
