[Solved] Unable To Access My Website; Helionet/heliohost Unusually Slow

Hello everyone.

Two days ago my website cfcorporation.tk became un-accessible to me.

I have tried to access it using proxy servers/VPNs with varying degrees of success.

Those that are nearer to my actual location usually don't load it. (Mexico City)

isup.me shows that it's a problem on my side (apparently), but I have tried pretty much everything I have thought of and I still cannot access my site (or cPanel).

The whole HelioNet/HelioHost network (forums and website) are also rather slow (this slow down is only present in these websites).

I tried to log in on to cPanel via the main HelioHost website but likewise it never loads (until it ultimately shows the "taking too long to respond" message).

I performed a traceroute:

Tracing route to cfcorporation.tk [216.218.192.170]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

It seems it stops at Hurricane Electric for some reason...

Other things I've tried include changing my DNS resolver on my computer (not on the website since the records show they're correctly configured and besides I can't even enter cPanel), restarting my computer, using a different computer to access my website, using a different OS, flushing the system's DNS cache, rebooting my router, rebooting my modem and using a different browser. Nothing of the aforementioned worked. IMAP access to the server is nonfunctional as well.

Please help. Thanks a lot in advance.

I'll assume you're on Johnny...Johnny is severely overloaded and has been down for much of the past few days: http://heliohost.grd.net.pl/monitor/ This board is on the same hardware too, which is why it's also slow. Unfortunately, such overloading is common on Johnny, though not usually to this extent.

If you need reliable hosting, my recommendation is to move to Stevie (which from the link above you can see as much better uptime!).

Hello wolstech, I am using the Stevie server, that's why it seems strange to me that there has been such an extended downtime.

I should have mentioned that in the first post, my bad.

Here's the details of my account:

Username: upnor

Server: Stevie

cfcorporation.tk

Hello Krydos, thanks for unblocking me (and thanks wolstech for escalating the issue); I'm now able to connect, although access is still slow and rather unstable. I assume it's now maybe a problem on my end? Although I have no problems accessing other websites, so I have no idea there.

To explain further: yes, I can open my website now, however, it takes (comparatively to before this issue happened) a lot more time to load, and sometimes it simply seems to drop the connection with the "the connection was reset while the page was loading" message (or "The connection has timed out)".

IMAP/SMTP access works at times, but mostly gives me errors such as:

An error occurred sending mail: SMTP server stevie.heliohost.org is unknown. The server may be incorrectly configured. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again.

Login to server stevie.heliohost.org failed.

Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent using SMTP server stevie.heliohost.org for unknown reason. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact your network administrator. Additionally, verify that your firewall or antivirus program is not preventing Postbox from sending email.

But I haven't changed anything (I don't have any firewall/anti-malware blocking my mail client either) and from what I can see the settings are correct. Unless HelioHost now uses different mail settings than before? But I don't think that's the problem.

Traceroute does complete successfully now:

I'm baffled as to what the issue might be. If you need me to perform any other tests then please let me know. Thanks for all your assistance so far.

My attempts to use SMTP resulted in a connection that's immediately closed by the server. It definitely worked the last time I used it, so might be broken. Webmail seems to be working...

Stevie did see high load this morning (likely due to abuse or being hit by DDoS), and HTTP was dragging a bit as a result with a timeout here and there, but it definitely wasn't entirely down. I get monitoring emails when Stevie's HTTP goes down entirely...I haven't gotten any in the past week. My website and cPanel are working despite some slowness.
