Actually, the number of packages available from Debian can be disputed, since it separates it's dev, debug, and data files. So the actual program count might be close to that of Gentoo and Archlinux. But I whole-heartedly agree with Joe, once you learn how to partition correctly, Linux is a cinch. I find partitioning is the most dangerous part because you can wipe out your hard drive... which I've done... multiple times.

It's all relative. Fast paced RTS could be determined in seconds yes, but fast paced FPS are determined within fractions of that.

Fast paced and RTS don't seem like they would fit in the same sentence together. If it were fast paced FPS, I could help you.

KDE > Gnome IMHO I adore GTK+ and all, but I really don't like Gnome, It's too "simple". Linus Torvalds uses KDE. You can change the color of all the *ubuntus, what matters is your taste of DE and WM. But right now, I'm running fluxbox on Archlinux.

IMHO, XP was decent in terms of a modern OS. Vista, in its current state, downright sucks. Apart from the crashing, the new GUI is too "user-friendly" and the "security measures" (Asking you to run/configure anything) just slow me down. There's no flexibility in Vista that I feel in Linux and, to an extent, XP.

I say this because your little questionare doesn't even match the answers well, i.e. "will the world end in until gas is gone"; this doesn't make grammatical sense. It makes little practical sense as well. There is enough gas in the world, it's just that people don't want to use it.
