Right, that's how HTTP works. However, HTTP 1.1 allows for a Host header to enable IP sharing. If, in addition to giving your Arduino the IP address of your website, you also get it to pass in a specific Host header on its HTTP packets, you should be good.

The string "jhgca" isn't in /etc/group on Johnny (or Stevie for that matter, but I thought the user was signing up for Johnny). ReN07: is the issue persisting at this point?

Okay, problem solved...

All you're doing right now is reading a publicly readable file. /etc/passwd is CHMOD'd to 644. If somebody really cared to, they could add "cat /etc/passwd" as a cron job and get that list, plus some more stuff. It's possible to prevent this in PHP with difficulty, but it will always be possible with CGI and cronjobs. Do you have any better exploits you can identify?
