hostmysiteplease Posted Monday at 07:00 PM Posted Monday at 07:00 PM I want to upgrade to a VPS account. 1. Will my current data i.e. domains, emails, files etc be migrated to the VPS account or will I have to do it myself OR 2. Do I get a blank VPS and the existing hosting account maintained? Quote
MoneyBroz Posted Monday at 07:20 PM Posted Monday at 07:20 PM Number 2 is correct, you'll get a blank OS with SSH access to setup whatever you want. If you aren't used to the command line of linux then we can install a control panel such as Hestia for you. Quote
hostmysiteplease Posted yesterday at 05:29 PM Author Posted yesterday at 05:29 PM What about the data in the current hosting plan? How do I get it on the VPS or is the hosting plan still maintained? Quote
KazVee Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago You can keep the hosting plan and have a VPS, that's not against the Terms of Service at all. Any data you want put onto the VPS, you would move there yourself. Hestia haven't yet released their version for Ubuntu 26, so if you want Hestia, you'll need to get Ubuntu 24 installed instead. wolstech Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Note that when you actually buy a VPS, nothing happens to the hosting account automatically. You just get a VPS alongside. If you want to move everything to the VPS as a replacement for the Plesk hosting account, you would need to do so manually, then cancel the hosting account. Some of our VPS users do have both, they typically use the Plesk account for their main website, and set up the VPS on a subdomain to use for hosting large files or running a specific a heavy application like a game server.
