[Solved] VPS Email

Thank you for assisting me. I would like to configure the STP/STMP for my VPS subscription with a free domain offered by HelioHost. I am not sure whether there is a more detailed guide about this topic or something similar.

I want to be able to send emails and avoid them constantly landing in spam, possibly by setting up reverse DNS or related email authentication settings.

Which free domain would you like? They are offered with helioho.st or heliohost.us endings. Once the domain is added for you, the email authentication settings can be set up by an admin.

Do you want metalost2.helioho.st or another domain? Apologies for not making it clearer that the VPS admins will need to know the full domain you want. Unless for the first time ever someone says "surprise me!" and we'll see how creative they get. 🙂

Thank you very much for helping me. I would like “altair.helioho.st”. Could I change that domain in the future to my own domain if I wanted to?

Yes, your VPS domain can be changed in the future. If you decide to purchase your own domain later on, we'd recommend Namecheap since HelioHost has an affiliate agreement with them. You can read more about that in the Wiki here:

Once you're ready to purchase the domain, if you want to do it with Namecheap you can click on the banner graphic on the Wiki page, or use the link below so HelioHost gets a bit of commission for the referral. Please note that you may need to disable your adblocker or add the link to your allow list for the link to work:

In the meantime, I've escalated this support request to our VPS admins who can add the free domain for you.

The domain altair.helioho.st has been created and is pointing to VPS72.

Sorry for the inconvenience of replying to this ticket (I believe this is the right place), but when I check the reverse DNS, it appears that the reverse DNS has not been set up yet.

I can see that the domain is already pointing to `65.19.191.155`, but the reverse DNS seems to point to `vps72.heliohost.us`, which may cause my emails to end up in spam folders, even though they are not spam.

Reverse DNS for VPS72 has been set to altair.helioho.st.
