souovito Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I'd like to change my main domain to cult.helioho.st I'd also like to change the domain's document root from /httpdocs to /httpdocs/cult (if possible) My username is souovito Quote
KazVee Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I've changed the main domain on your account for you. Please note that it may take up to 2 hours for your new domain to fully work. If after a full 2 hours it doesn't work on your side, please make sure you clear your web browser cache: https://wiki.helionet.org/Clear_Your_CacheΒ Please note there is a risk of data loss when main domains are changed, so I made a full backup for you before I made the changes, in case you need any files from the old domain. You can download the backup here: https://heliohost.org/backupΒ If you're not sure how to extract the backup files, please follow our how-to guide here: https://wiki.helionet.org/Account_Backups Could you please provide justification why you would need the root folder changed, such as it being a requirement for a particular software package you're trying to install? A root admin would need to consider making this change so we like to give them the reasons behind the request. Thanks! Quote

I've read on another post that the root folder could be changed if needed for having more projects on the same account, but I'm not really sure if this is how it should be done or if it's really necessary (I'm not planning to make another site right now but I might want to in the future) Quote
wolstech Posted 50 minutes ago Posted 50 minutes ago No need to change it then. If you ask for additional domains for extra projects, they automatically get their own document root. Your main domain is always ~/httpdocs/ , but extra domains would use a folder named after the domain instead of httpdocs (e.g. ~/extradomain.helioho.st/ ), so they're automatically separate.Β Changing the docroot was a common request back in the cPanel days because cPanel used to put the addon domain roots insideΒ the main domain's root, but Plesk doesn't do that.
