HelioHost Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 Username: dagriffpatchfan, Server: Johnny, Main domain: dagriffpatchfanhosting.helioho.stHi, first off, thank you very much for your help. I have a couple questions. First off, does ? We are also going to require you to put a "Powered by HelioHost"? mean on every page? I plan on having a website that explains what we are and I would definitely add that link there, but I?m not sure if pyterodactyl has an easy way to do this. If I can?t figure out how to link it on the server panel, at least not right away is that ok? Second, heliohost terms dictate that you must be 13+ to use their services. Does that mean people using my site must be 13+? Third, the other day I had the idea of restricting the service to those under 18. What do you think about that? Lastly, if the vps is being run on really old hardware, does that mean this might run on Steve? As for the OS, Ubuntu 22.04 is the os best supported by pyterodactyl. Krydos Posted February 5, 2025 Posted February 5, 2025 No, the "Powered by HelioHost" doesn't have to be on every page, but it should be on your main homepage, and your signup page. Yes, if someone is below 13 that would violate our terms of service. That's fine if you want to restrict your services to only those 18 years old or younger, but it's fine if you have adults use your service as well. The old Stevie is fully powered off, and isn't running anything. He's just sitting in our cabinet ready to be handed to the recycler. The new Stevie hasn't been purchased yet. The server you will be on is named Lucie, not that it matters really. Here is a link to her on our wiki https://wiki.helionet.org/Lucie The next step is to go to https://heliohost.org/password/ and submit a username and password you want to use on your Ubuntu 22 VPS. Let us know once the username and password are submitted.
HelioHost Posted February 5, 2025 Author Posted February 5, 2025 If someone's parent or older sibling signs up for them, would that still violate the TOS? I was hoping to have younger audiences (10-12) using this... Krydos Posted February 6, 2025 Posted February 6, 2025 No one under 13 can use any service we provide. That includes your free VPS. You can't store any private information of anyone under 13 in your database that is hosted on our servers. If you find out that someone below the age of 13 has lied about their age and created an account anyways, you must delete their data as soon as you find out, and ban them from using it again until they are 13 or above. If you want to abandon your free VPS and use some other service to host your control panel here are the laws you would have to follow in order to have users below the age of 13 https://www.ftc.gov/legal-library/browse/rules/childrens-online-privacy-protection-rule-coppa
Krydos Posted February 6, 2025 Posted February 6, 2025 Your VPS has been created and you should have just received an email with the IPv4 and IPv6, etc. The username you submitted had invalid characters and was too long, so I just made it dagriffpatchfanh instead.
