lilychan Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 I couldn't tell if this belonged here or in Customer Service, since I don't exactly know where the issue lies... But I'm having a problem connecting to my site with Filezilla. It was working fine and I used it yesterday with no issues. But today, it keeps stopping in the same place, then disconnecting before it ever fully connects to my site. It's been doing this for several hours now, and I'm not seeing anybody else mention this issue, and my site is working fine when I visit it...so I don't think there's a server down, or anything... But something's not working and I can't understand what it is...does anyone know what's going on? Quote
Unknown025 Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 It's possible your IP address got blocked in our firewall. Are you able to connect from another Internet network? I can check if your IP was blocked if you're willing to share it (or send me a private message). Quote
lilychan Posted September 28, 2024 Author Posted September 28, 2024 (edited) I don't think so, this network is our home Wifi and we live in a rural spot so finding another place with accessible wifi is...extremely difficult. I can send you the IP address, I just don't know where to find it. x'DD Edit: I guess there's a site that tells you your IP, but I'm getting two results... Edited September 28, 2024 by lilychan Quote
wolstech Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Can you try using SFTP on port 1373 instead of FTPS on port 21? That's typically a more reliable, and also more secure, method of connecting. Quote

wolstech Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 You have to use the server name (tommy.heliohost.org) for the host. Using your own domain for FTP or SFTP has known issues and is not recommended. Does it work if you use tommy.heliohost.org as the host? Quote

All this stuff barely makes sense to me! I put in the server name for the host as you stated, and it seemed to have the same issue. Quote
wolstech Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Try SFTP on 1373 again now. Your account had an issue internally with its configuration. Also, give FTPS on port 21 a try again using tommy.heliohost.org as the server name if that still doesn't work. Quote

wolstech Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Can you try entering 65.19.154.90 as the host name instead of tommy.heliohost.org? That will force ipv4. If that doesn't work, can you try another device, and another network connection, such as a cell phone hotspot? Beyond that, I'm not sure what else could be causing this. If the above, don't help, let me know and we can see if Krydos has any other ideas... Quote

If the above, don't help, let me know and we can see if Krydos has any other ideas... So I tried your top suggestion and it connected immediately. Curious, I went back and tried my usual connection settings, from before I ever made this post...and it's working too. o.O I don't know if it was already suddenly working again before I tried that, (this is the one time I forgot to double-check) or if that somehow fixed everything... I don't know what's going on, but it seems to be working again. I'm so confused!! Regardless, thank you so much for the help!! Quote
wolstech Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Quote Curious, I went back and tried my usual connection settings, from before I ever made this post...and it's working too. o.O FTP wasn't set up on Tommy to support connections via IPv6. The suggestion to use the IP was to force an IPv4 connection, which was known to work, instead of letting your OS decide (based on your pictures it was picking v6). The issue with FTP over IPv6 was fixed earlier today, which is why your original settings now work. please let us know if you need anything else. Quote
