Krydos Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Your email service was disabled for trying to send 84 emails on 2024-08-13. To prevent spam the default sending limit is 50 per day. I have re-enabled your email service, but try to keep your sent emails below 50 to avoid having email service disabled again. If you need to send more than 50 emails per day the limit can be raised, but we will need some additional information from you about the emails you intend to send.
jchang Posted August 15 Author Posted August 15 If I put multiple people on the CC or BCC list, does that count as multiple e-mails? That might explain why I reached the limit. I think I can try the mailing list feature if that was the problem. I'm using the account to manage an administration of a non-profit organization, and I use it to sent e-mail to our attendees for meeting reminders as well as e-mail exchanges with with the leadership group. But it's the beginning of the year for us and I can imagine I might bumping against the 50 e-mail a day during this period where there are lots of e-mail exchanges as we organize for the new year. Thanks, Jacob
Krydos Posted August 15 Posted August 15 4 hours ago, jchang said: If I put multiple people on the CC or BCC list, does that count as multiple e-mails? Yes. You can send 50 emails to 1 person at a time, or you can send 25 emails to 2 people at a time, or you can send 1 email to 50 people, etc.
jchang Posted August 16 Author Posted August 16 If I send a message to the mailing list I create on heliohost, and the mailing list, in turn, sends it to 50 people, would that count as 50 e-mail in a day or 1 e-mail in a day? Thanks, Jacob
wolstech Posted August 16 Posted August 16 It counts as 51... One email from mailbox to mailing list and then 50 from the mailing list to the outside world. The limit exists specifically to prevent bulk email and spam. As was mentioned above, we can increase the limit for you, but you would need to provide samples of what's being sent so we can be sure you're not sending things that are likely to be marked as spam. Also be aware that your account will get suspended if we receive a spam complaint from any of your recipients. We don't like having to be this tough on the email, but unfortunately far too many people have tried to use our service to send spam and phishing in the past and gotten the servers blacklisted, which results in every single user on our service being unable to send email, in some cases that can take weeks or months to fix.
jchang Posted August 17 Author Posted August 17 Here is the example e-mail I tried to send out before. I BCC'd 42 people in addition to the 4 CC people. Everyone on there I know personally and we meet up once a week. So they are not even people who attended once and never show up again. So on a worse day, I may need to send out 3 or 4 e-mails (I imagine I sent out 1 or 2 emails, then realized there was incorrect information and sent another one). I will also be using the e-mail account for individual 1-1 logistical purposes, so I think a limit of 250 per day would suffice. Krydos Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Here are the standard questions we need an answer to before we can increase your send limit: How many emails you plan to send per day? Where you get the email addresses from? How can recipients of your emails unsubscribe? Do you have an unsubscribe@yourdomain.com address set up? Do you have an abuse@yourdomain.com address set up? Does each email have a link to unsubscribe? Do you share or sell email addresses that you get? Post an example of the messages being sent. You've already provided the answer to question 8.
jchang Posted August 20 Author Posted August 20 1. How many emails you plan to send per day?Typically, up to 25 e-mails a day for one or two days out of the week for individual communication. Plus 50 e-mails for the group announcements 0, 1, or 2 times a week (so 0, 50, or 100 e-mails). I requested 250 to give some buffer room. 2. Where you get the email addresses from? We ask for them when we invite them to be part of the leadership group 3. How can recipients of your emails unsubscribe? We remove them when they stop being part of the leadership group. There are no "inactive" members that will be on the distribution they will only receive e-mail if they are active. 4. Do you have an unsubscribe@yourdomain.com address set up? No, but they can just reply to the e-mail and I will receive any feedback they have. 5. Do you have an abuse@yourdomain.com address set up? No, I don't plan to set up a mailing list so that other people can send e-mails to our members through the heliohost service. I plan only to put people's e-mail address on the BCC list when I send out announcement e-mails from my heliohost account 6. Does each email have a link to unsubscribe? No. But they can just reply to me on every e-mail I plan to sent out. 7. Do you share or sell email addresses that you get? Each member gets another member's e-mail on paper. It is made clear that the information is confidential and should not be shared outside the group. 8. Post an example of the messages being sent. See above post.
jchang Posted August 25 Author Posted August 25 (edited) Hi. I just tried to send e-mail out to about 24 people (most of which is on the BCC list) and it states that the limit has been reached. Looks my account is still active though. Is there an additional limit on recipient per message? Thanks, Edited August 25 by jchang update with more information
