Krydos Posted August 11 Posted August 11 If you have a Johnny account head over to https://heliohost.org/status/ to get yourself set up on the new, freshly rebuilt server. To recap the recent news, about a month ago we noticed quite a bit of input/output errors on Johnny's filesystem. This was surprising because we have redundant raid arrays, and checks in place to alert us if we need to replace a bad hard drive. Apparently the checks had failed, and the raid array was already pretty much destroyed. After failing to rebuild the array using the July 15th data multiple times we tried rebuilding the raid from a drive that was kicked from the array on March 8th. All of the data from March 8th to July 15th was already gone, but we managed to get people backups from the older data. Any changes or new accounts from March 8th until July 15th will need to be restored from your personal backups that you made yourself. Since Morty was approaching completion we quickly finished that server, and then cloned him to make a new Johnny. Setting up a new Plesk server with all of our customizations and settings is very time consuming, but using the cloning technique we managed to shorten the process to only a few days. All of the Johnny accounts that had backups available have been set into the archived state, so if you want to start using your account all you need to do is go to the https://heliohost.org/status/ and it will guide you through the renewal process. If your account was created after March 8th, there is no backup for you, but you can go to the same https://heliohost.org/status/ page and it will give you the option to recreate your account with the same plan and same storage space as you had before. The account will be as empty as a brand new account always is, and then you can restore whatever personal backups you made. If you're having any issues with getting your account working again, let us know, and we can fix it. We have made a lot of changes already to prevent something like this from happening again in the future. Sorry for the downtime, and thank you for your patience. 4
miniurl Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Thank you Krydos for all your hard work during this downtime to get Johnny back. One question that can I change my account username?

The result is generally OK, but a Reset Password was needed. Everything went well with that too. But I would like to note that before the restore I wasn't able to log in to Plesk, but was able log in using ftp using the same old password. After updating the password, I can access Plesk with the new password, but I can still use new password with ftp, there I must log in with the old password. However, I can't with the new one. When I check the password in the Plesk panel, I see there the old password. So now I need three different passwords, one to log into Plesk, the second to use ftp and a third one to use the forum. At the same time I see on Plesk only my old password, not the new one. Maybe it changes after some time when cache is cleaned up. Don't know. Too much, isn't it? Also, I haven't tested the email yet, so I don't know what password it can be used with. The post is just to let you know what the problem is still there.

I tested the reset password page, and it wasn't updating the SFTP password like it should. The password reset page has never reset the forum password though as the forum has it's own password reset function located at https://helionet.org/index/login/ and then click "Forgot your password?" We have discussed adding a checkbox to the https://heliohost.org/reset/ page so people can reset their forum password with one page. The reset page should set your SFTP password correctly now. 1

Thanks and glad you found it. But now everything is down for a long time already, maybe about day. Neither http/https nor ftp.
wolstech Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Try again now. You were blocked for too many failed sftp logins. 1

But can't say that too many times. And I couldn't connect already on the first try, so I thought something was being done and so I tried again later, but I didn't know which password is correct, the new or the old. So there was no choice but to try again with another password when the first didn't work. But now, yes I can log in with both, ie with sftp and with ftp, but still with old password only and on plesk with new one only. Anyway thanks, I'll wait a few days then try changing passwords again.
wolstech Posted August 14 Posted August 14 It only gives you a few attempts in a 60 minute window. If you exceed that it blocks you. The issue with FTP passwords should be fixed, but you’ll need to reset your password again through our website or change the FTP password manually in Plesk to sync them up.
