dalfc Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Hi, can the module/framework "bottle" be installed?Server: RickyPython: 3.6Related Site: http://bottlepy.org/
Flaze Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 This support request is being escalated to our root admins.
Krydos Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Is there anything that bottle does that flask or django, which are both already installed, don't do? Also keep in mind that if I did install bottle on Ricky you'd have to use python 2.7.
dalfc Posted December 22, 2020 Author Posted December 22, 2020 Thanks! Any reasons why Flask and Django are outdated on Ricky?
wolstech Posted December 22, 2020 Posted December 22, 2020 Ricky is well overdue for a rebuild, so a lot of his software is outdated. If you mean why do we offer Django on 2.7 on Ricky, it's intentional because some users still need to run old apps on that version. If you need it on 3.x, Johnny or Tommy both have it on Python 3.
Krydos Posted December 24, 2020 Posted December 24, 2020 You also have to keep in mind that on shared hosting it's not just you using flask or django. There's hundreds of other people using it, and if we upgrade flask or django it may break dozens of people's websites that aren't compatible with the new version. If you want full control over having the latest versions we recommend a VPS where you'll have root access to install any version you want as soon as it's available.
