dl5ark1 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 HelioHost username: dl5ark heliohost server: tommy heliohost main domain: dl5ark.heliohost.org Thanks for help! Holger
Luigi123 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Your account was suspended for causing high server load. I have unsuspended your account, but please try to limit the load you put on our servers as it slows down not only your site, but the sites of all other HelioHost users sharing your server. If you still see the suspended page, please clear your cache. If you need help figuring out why your site is causing such high load let us know and we can try to help. If the high load is simply because your site is getting a lot of traffic, you might want to consider purchasing a VPS instead. https://www.heliohost.org/vps/ VPS hosting gives you an entire virtual server to yourself, including no load limits, a dedicated IP address, and full root access. Causing high server load. 371% more memory than #2, and 125% more cpu than #2. Please be aware that is your 2nd chance of your account being suspended and if you do this one more time, you will not get another chances. Please be careful when you put things onto our servers!
dl5ark1 Posted September 22, 2020 Author Posted September 22, 2020 Many thanks for the help. I can't explain the server load, just like a month ago. There were no actions on my part, the load of the days before was close to 0%. Can you tell me what is creating the load?
Luigi123 Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 I’ll get a root admin name Krydos to look into this for you to find out where is it coming from. Escalating
Krydos Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 All it says is the load is coming from php 5.4. It looks like all of your subdirectories use php 5.4 though so that doesn't narrow it down much. If you want to test different directories individually you would have to assign them different versions of php by editing the .htaccess in each subdirectory and putting a different php version like below <IfModule mime_module> AddHandler application/x-httpd-ea-php54 .php .php5 .phtml </IfModule> Even after being suspended for most of the day your account is currently using 389% more memory than #2, and you're #1 on cpu usage too. If Tommy gets high load and needs to suspend an account to reduce the overal server load your account is #1 on the list to be suspended.
dl5ark1 Posted September 23, 2020 Author Posted September 23, 2020 I would like to try that out, but I'm blocked again. Can you reactivate me please? Holger
Luigi123 Posted September 23, 2020 Posted September 23, 2020 Done. Please fix it as quickly as you can before your account gets suspended again
dl5ark1 Posted September 24, 2020 Author Posted September 24, 2020 I have renamed various subdirectories to prevent the call. This also severely restricted the use of SQL. Nevertheless, under Metrics - Account Load, I still see the inexplicable load. There have been no changes since the load appeared that could explain this. I fear to be suspended again soon. What is using so much memory and creating this high CPU load? Is it sure, that Account Load shows correct values for my account? The load increase from 0 to 100 percent within one day (from 24th to 25th August 2020 and from 20th to 21st September 2020) without changes on my side is currently inexplicable for me. Holger
wolstech Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 The number shown in that chart are not real time, they are averages of the day's samples, so if you were already causing high load today, then made changes late in the day, tomorrow's numbers will be more accurate. High load can be a pain, it took me forever to figure out my cause when I suddenly started having issues. My issue turned out to be a mantis install being hit by bots.
dl5ark1 Posted September 24, 2020 Author Posted September 24, 2020 Hello wolstech, thanks for the explanation. What exactly does "late in the day" mean? In which time zone? UTC?
wolstech Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I just meant towards the end of the day. Think: If you have 20 really high samples and 4 low ones, the average is still going to be much higher than your current load, so you have to wait until the next day to the most accurate numbers (where if fixed, you'll get all-low samples). Yes, each day in that chart starts at midnight UTC, or if you're in the USA is 5PM on the west coast and 8PM east coast.
Krydos Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 Have you tried looking at the raw access logs and other metrics tools in cpanel? Perhaps your site is getting pounded by bots too?
dl5ark1 Posted September 24, 2020 Author Posted September 24, 2020 I looked at the metric tools, but could not find any indication of a higher load than before the suspending. Either I'm missing something or the statistics don't mean me ;-) .
dl5ark1 Posted September 24, 2020 Author Posted September 24, 2020 My account was now suspended again...
Krydos Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 I have unsuspended your account so you can log in to cpanel, edit files, view reports, etc, but I have left the suspended notice in place. I recommend leaving the suspended page in place for at least 5.5 hours until midnight UTC when the day resets. If you want to take the suspended page down let me know and I'll remove it for you, but it might be wise to replace some of your pages with temporarily down messages served from static html files before we do that.
