Hello,

I have been trying for quite some time to log in to my FTP account that supposedly has been set to use the same password as my cPanel one. I did reset my password, but entering my new password in to my FTP account login kicks me out. Old passwords don't work too and I would rather not make a new custom FTP account just for this.

My IP was banned for multiple failed attempts, I want to avoid getting banned again.

Even though it's a special account I would still appreciate to have some control over it and set it up to use a different password since the current one is either lost or unknown.

Thank you in advance,

The recommended sftp settings are:

SFTP host: ricky.heliohost.org
SFTP port: 1312
SFTP protocol: SFTP
SFTP logon type: Normal
SFTP Username: bloodwii
SFTP password: <same as cpanel>
For easy reference they are listed at the top of the page at https://ricky.heliohost.org:2083/frontend/paper_lantern/ftp/accounts.html

The password should be the same as your cpanel password so if you can log in to cpanel you should be able to log into sftp as well. If for some reason the above settings don't work for you don't repeatedly try to guess passwords, just use the same password once as you just logged in to cpanel with. Ftp can be tricky sometimes, because most ftp clients very studpidly try to login like 50 times with the same wrong password. That's why ftp is the leading cause of blocked ip addresses.

Error: Authentication failed.
Error: Critical error: Could not connect to server

This is what I'm always getting from FileZilla when I enter the exact password that I use (and that works and logs me in) to the cPanel (https://ricky.heliohost.org:2083).

I also even tried importing the .xml file that is given for easier set up experience, still did not help and my password, which works on cPanel, gets rejected.

SFTP and FTP both reject my attempts to connect.

I would suggest you try changing your password, then see if the new password works. It sounds like something might not have synced when your account was set up.
