wolstech Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 It looks like some company's support robot and our auto-reply system have gotten into an infinite loop over in the support email forum, with them reacting to each other's auto-reply. Even stranger, the certificate referenced in the email is for a similarly-named domain that isn't even ours (looks like someone else may have ripped off our name, the domain shown is heliohosting.com). (Hidden topic, mods/admins only: https://www.helionet.org/index/topic/38561-hh850633-ssl-renewal-reminder/ ) What's the proper way to stop this sort of thing?
wolstech Posted February 10, 2020 Author Posted February 10, 2020 Looks like the answer to this is "change the email address in the database for the ticket so the responses go into the abyss". I changed the email for #850633 to .old instead of .com and it finally stopped. Moving and deleting the topic didn't work, I would've expected fully deleting the topic to stop it. It also continued even after I tried moving it to Trash temporarily...
Guest yikes Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Both heliohosting and helioshosting (with an "s", the one referenced in the email) have nothing, with helioshosting having a blank white page. Could have been a mistake (e.g. someone trying to make a cert for account on Johnny and using that domain instead of their domain), but seeing as how the domain resolves and connects to a blank white page, something is fishy. Edit: DNS Lookup:
Krydos Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 I added that email address to the blacklist so even if they send another email it won't start a loop again.
